Miami GP - Single Day Campus Pass for my buddy
Flying in from Norfolk, VA and staying in South Beach, I’ve got my weekend pretty much planned out with me and my friend holding two 3-Day Beach Grandstand Tickets and Brightline tickets from Miami to Aventura bought ahead of time, albeit one WILD CARD. I may have Florida Panthers playoff tickets for Saturday May 4, and if it’s a night game then a buddy of mine in Lauderdale may come to Miami GP for that day so he could drive us up to Sunrise for the playoff game that night. If I got him a single day campus pass, would he be able to hang with us in the Beach Grandstands since I already have two tickets? This is the last wrinkle to iron out and then I’m locked in for an EPIC South Florida sports weekend. Cheers and can’t wait!!!

The Big Ten's purported interest in FSU and Clemson is a deliberate mislead
I was listening to some FSU fans last night talk about realignment. They were saying that they would be happy with either, but the SEC was a much better cultural fit for them than the B1G was. And when you read realignment threads the same thing is said for Clemson and UNC. They are Southern, culturally, and while they have some media value they don't really fit the Big Ten.
That's when I had an epiphany: the Big Ten doesn't actually want them. They are feigning interest to make sure that the SEC grabs them. They want the SEC to add FSU, Clemson, UNC, and one more (NCST or UVA) to go to 20. And they want the Big 12 to follow up by adding Miami, Louisville, Virginia Tech, and one other to go to 20 too. They want the ACC to be divvied up, but not to take for themselves any ACC schools.
What they want is Notre Dame.
It's open knowledge that the Big Ten has long coveted ND. In fact, their media deal gives all schools a raise if they can get ND to join. The way to getting ND isn't by adding schools, though they will likely add someone (Stanford) when they do add Notre Dame eventually to balance the numbers. The way to getting ND is by taking their sweetheart ACC deal away from them.
And if done this way the Big Ten isn't the one who is killing the ACC. They wouldn't even be taking an ACC school before enough had left that the conference collapsed. So they're not the bad guy who took Notre Dame's sweetheart deal from them. They're the friendly neighbor offering Notre Dame a home for all their sports, and a pay raise to come over after their deal fell apart due to the SEC and Big 12 pilfering.
The Big Ten culture is not at all southern. All the rumors and hints that they're going to invade SEC territory are a deliberate mislead. They want the SEC to move to block them by taking 4 schools so that they can collect Notre Dame in the fallout.

Date [Standardized Human Time]: January 14, 2140.
The rest of the night was sleepless and unpleasant, forcing me to resort to curling into a ball and awaiting the reprieve of a beeping alarm clock. My body had ached from the moment I stood - my spine having spent the previous few hours bent at an awkward angle, my entire body aching from laying down for too long. My head pounded and my eyes were already weary. And yet, I knew I had a few things to do today, which meant facing the outside world which had produced gunfire and shouting a mere few hours ago. I groaned and lurched for the door - my paws placing one before the other slowly and surely, making me shamble like some sort of wooly zombie.
My hand brushed against the taller of two doorknobs at the apartment’s door and I pulled - opening the way to the hallway and eventually out onto the sidewalk.
Ever since I lost him, I hated going out. Me and everyone else had gotten to know the humans for almost four years before the Feds snuck their nose in our fucking business. We all had a creeping suspicion that what we had been taught since we were pups had been bullshit, but that wasn’t confirmed until they threw a hissy fit and tried to glass Earth. Apparently, Earth survived thanks to some species pulling through and helping out, us included, but at a huge loss - some four and a half billion gone, and millions more missing. In the week since, Venlil Prime has had a very distinct brand of numbness that has been passed around. Of anticipation of history being made. Many acted on it too. Most of us have lost faith in the Federation. They had been wrong about the one thing they built everything else around. What else could they be playing us about? This frustration of course boiling over, at the most visible symbol of Federative authority - the Exterminators. They were waning, but they were never this socially shunned.
As I stood on the street, I could see the smoke plumes still billowing from the headquarters. News Lady said arson, possibly an inside job.Which meant that maybe even they didn’t drink their own kool aid. Fucking idiots.Humans here had been treated gently since Earth. A large spike in suicides had been responded too with overwhelming community support, with resources being offered to any living here by locals. Hell, there’s even less heat from the exterminators than usual. Sucks all it took for that to happen is to blow up South Carolina. But due to this, Human refugees have been flooding in - many of them evacuated during the battle itself, which meant many were wounded or sick from sudden first spaceflights. Also meant that I couldn’t get my pills anywhere remotely normal.
Charnem was a nurse - a real greasy guy who skims some of the prescriptions from the hospital’s top for extra money. I had first gone to him for sleeping pills after uh, that … Happened - met him after hours behind the hospital he worked at. But the staff of that place were stationed helping out the first shipments of refugees. So I’d just have to go there.
It was noon by the time I arrived at the ports, the herd amassed telling me I was exactly where I needed to be. The community had flocked to help,they got so many volunteers that apparently, they had to hold a raffle to determine the handlers of the “predator” herd that had arrived. The area wasn’t fenced off or anything - but the entire docking bay was empty save for the fleet of transport ships which dropped off thousands. I could see them here, so many people bearing grim faces and sporting shredded clothes and bodies. A few tents and some loudspeakers had been set up, a voice blaring over them - prompting my ears to twitch.
"We do not need AB- , AB+, or O-. We have enough, thank you. There are critical shortages of O+, A+, and B+. If you match that blood type, please donate. Lives are on the line.”
The voice warbled for a moment, before it abruptly cut to music. All that assaulted my ears now is that annoying ass song, uh … I’m goin’ down or whatever. Made by Bruce. It really was a sucky fucking song to play in this situation, made even worse because I could understand English. Could they play something happy or some shit? If I got blown up, the last thing I’d wanna hear is Springman complaining about his teenage lovelife.
The nearest canopy tent was kinda weird. A group had set up shop inside, hundreds of mass-produced stuffed toys portraying Venlil sat up on tables and inside boxes. They were passing them out to the kid refugees, who mostly seemed either unhappy with a toy as consolation for abruptly losing everything else in their lives, or clinging onto the pretty soft-looking toys for dear life. It was nice of them either way I guess. These were volunteers, they probably knew. If not, I’d ask the ones next to them that were passing out food and water.I skipped the line entirely, my heart rate already increasing from the sheer amount of people I was swimming through. The noise was overwhelming, with all the chatter and that stupid fucking loudspeaker switching to the sorta better fitting Auld Lang Syne. I slowly weaved my way through the mass of Humanity until I found myself next to the tables, and in earshot of the worker.
"Hey-” I spoke, “I’m uh, I’m looking for Charnem? The nurse?’”
In between serving a forced smile and a stuffed animal to the battered human youth below, she turned and looked at me with exhausted eyes - puffy and red.
“Nurse? Check the medical tent … Hang a right next to the food line.”
A hasty medical tent had been set up at the edge of the bay, right where most ships would unload - bearing UN markings. It was large, I admit, taking up a good portion of the space given. The flap however was open and gave me an opportunity to get in, my ears recovering from the chatter of outside within the soundproof tent. All I heard here was the beeping of machines and tools, groaning, and wailing. I’d take it, I guess. Humans had been packed like sardines in here, all sporting a variety of injuries ranging from cuts and bruises to being half-way charred by anti-matter. Even further, some were being actively operated on behind dividers. What a horrible place to do this type of thing.
Behind a small divider in an attached room, I could see him - the nurse. Charnem was a greasy dude. His wool was oily and unkept, with figuratively tall and lanky features for us Venlil. The guy usually looked bored out of his mind and tired - but he seemed to have thrown that away today. He sat on a chair, a young human boy - if I had to guess, whose parents were being operated on and carried one of those produced plushies. He manipulated the overstuffed toy, making it ‘dance’ much to the dust-covered child’s joy, though he seemed more interested in the giant walking lamb than the copycat of the toy he already held in his hands.
It was weird, the guy had the largest and most natural looking smile I’ve ever seen him have, and I’ve been seeing him at doctor’s appointments for ages - he hardly was just my one-time drug dealer. Peeking from the side of the Divider, I spoke.
“Hey, can we talk? It’s me, the guy from the other night?”
The other Ram kept his attention on the boy, continuing to manipulate the stuffed animal as he asked his question. "Who from the other night?”
“The good tipper?”
His face fell for a moment as he looked over at me, then down to the boy. He patted the kid on the head and spoke, “I’ll be right back. Watch Davey for me - make sure he doesn't move! He’s suuuper sneaky!”
With that, he led me outside.
“What is it, Narek?” He asked, adopting that annoyed expression he so often did. What a dick.
“I was just wondering if you had some pills to spare?”
He stared incredulously. “Wait, wait, seriously? Look around you, does it look like I have anything to spare?” As if to accentuate his point, he flailed his arms in the direction of the door. “And even if I did, why are you asking me now?”
“I-” I tried to speak, though he had other thoughts.
“Seriously, we are out of everything right now. I’ve given up my own stash for this - the hospitals are flooded from that riot right now, and we’re using scraps. If I had sleeping pills, I’d be giving them to the people who actually need it. Not someone like you who just wants to have a talk with the spehing Hat Man!”
My mouth opened, and closed, and opened again. I had no words to say. I just felt like a total piece of shit, because he was right. My ears pinned down and my tail laid still, as I tried to stammer out a response. The Nurse looked at me and shook his head in frustration, before sighing. “Nar, I’ve been checking you into the doctors for years now. I heard what happened, and I’m sorry. I want to help you, but I just can’t. Sleeping pills won’t bring Roy back-”
I winced at the mention of his name.
“So go get a drink or talk to friends about it. You are going to crash and burn if you keep it up like this. I’m not your friend either - so don’t try it.”
As he walked away, I felt less than dirt. How could I march in here and ask for scraps to get my kicks off of? He had only plunged the knife deeper by mentioning Roy in all of this. I wonder what he’d think of my stunt here, if he could see me? I sniffled, wiping my eyes with my paws - before I put up my bravest face and decided to try his advice. I knew just where to go.

Miami(ish) MTB Scene
I, originally from New Jersey currently live in Appalachia and work at one of the top outdoor sports/mountain bike shops in southwest Virginia. That said, I’ll likely be moving to Miami come fall for work in advertising and I’m wanting to know if it’s worth investing in a new bike for this summer season and beyond or if I should just plan on quitting MTB all together upon moving… in which case I’d pass on the new bike.
Is there any sort of MTB scene in miami? I have discovered the Virginia Key North Point trails via the internet, is it as nice and fun a trail system as it looks? If so, it could boast some hope for buying a bike and continuing to ride.

About Packers International game and the color green "prohibition" (It ISN'T prohibited)
Hello people,
As you might know by now, the Packers are playing a game in Brazil, in Corinthians stadium. And I've seen a lot of misinformation about it. And as a Brazilian, a Corinthians fan and a Packers fan, it really hurts a little to see other fellow Packers fans talking shit about Brazil, São Paulo or Corinthians without really knowing anything about any of these topics. So I decided to write a text to try to debunk some of the myths, and try to explain how things really work.
TL;DR: You can wear green, you can go to the NFL game wearing green. It's common to see people wearing green in São Paulo.
First of, why some people reported a "green ban" in Corinthians stadium?
Corinthians is a black and white club, and its rival, Palmeiras is a green and white club. This rivalry is one of the biggest sports rivalries in the world and as usual in rivalries in South America, you tend not to wear your rival color when going to the stadium watch your team game, so, Corinthians fans doesn't wear green when going to watch a Corinthians game. For us, wearing green is the same as a Bears fan going to a Bears game wearing a cheese-head. This can get a little more heated when you take into account that soccer rivalries are a little bit more complex than any rivalry in USA. Those big rivalries in Brazil comes from the beginning of the 1900's, and they tend to carry a lot of social and political components, add to that the geographical factor: Corinthians and Palmeiras Stadiums are less than 15 miles apart, so you have basically the whole fan base of each team living in the same state, that's your recipe to a heated rivalry.
But pay attention to what I wrote: Corinthians fans doesn't wear green when going to a Corinthians game. This is the scenario where the "green ban" exists. But is not a rule, it's something Corinthians fans just do, you will not get beat up for that as much as you would get beat up for wearing a cheese-head in a random game in Soldier Field.
So yeah, all of this is the old football fan mob mentality thing. Corinthians fans doesn't wear green in the stadium, but outside? It's just another color. Matter of fact, I did college pretty close to Corinthians stadium, and I used to wear my green Packers jersey to college, and no one ever bothered me. In winter sometimes I even wear a green Packers cap.
Now, about the inside of the stadium in a non-Corinthians game:
Well, this is not the first, second or third rodeo of this stadium in receiving a non-Corinthians game, but I want to highlight some of them.
June, 12th 2014 - Brazil vs Croatia | August, 13th 2016 - Brazil vs Colombia | August, 9th 2016 Brazil vs Canada : Even though most people were wearing yellow, green was the secondary color in that Brazil game, and a lot of Brazil flags in the standing, that is basically a big green rectangle.
This stadium was one of the host stadiums in the 2014 World Cup, 2016 Olympics and 2019 Copa América, and even when Brazil wasn't playing the crowd was filled with green wearing people and no problems happened, so you guys can stand relaxed about it.
All of that to say most noise about the green ban was media being click baity, and people not reading past the title (gosh, I hope you guys read at least the first too paragraphs this time).
And some questions that may appear:
Q: But didn't "that people" died because they were a "that team" fan, like X people die every year in Brazil due to soccer violence.
A: Most of these deaths are in ultras vs ultras fights. Not someone being target for walking the street with whatever t-shirt color. People can be stupid and violence happens in Brazil as it happens in USA, we didn't invented. Being a poor country doesn't help. But if you want to talk numbers São Paulo has around 5.6 deaths/100.000 person/year. If we look at New York, it has 6.3 deaths/100.000 person/year. So you are as safe in São Paulo as you are in New York.
Q: What about the grass?
A: It's green, Corinthians tried to change it, but FIFA didn't let them. Yes, we would go this far. The glass in the stadium have a treatment to not go green.
Q: What about Corinthians president asking for the teams to not wear Green?
A: Publicity stunt and try to earn some points with the fans (Corinthians is not in a good place right now).
Q: I did not read anything, can I wear green to the game?
A: Yes.
Q: If you don't like green why you become a Packers fan?
A: Good question, we don't think, we are just fans.
And since I'm in a writing spree, some other questions regarding the NFL in Brazil:
Q: Is Packers the NFL team with more fans in Brazil? Why?
A: 1) Good team when NFL was growing in Brazil (2010-now) with broadcasted games. 2) Colors. 3) Like our soccer teams, Packers don't have a owner, the fans own the team.
Q: So, this will be a home game?
A: Despite Packers being the team with more fans in Brazil, I don't think we will have 50% of the stadium. NFL is pretty big here, and any game will attract fans of every NFL team, so we might be the major fan base, but I don't think we hit more than 30% of the stadium.
Q: How the crowd is?
A: Soccer crowd in LatAm are LOUD and passionate. We often joke that Europe stadiums sound like libraries. I don't know how they will be in a NFL game without ultras to sing or fans organization though.
Q: What is São Paulo like?
A: Like New York, but latino. This is one of my favorite videos about São Paulo
Q: Does São Paulo even have an airport?
A: São Paulo has the biggest airport in South America. There's daily direct flights to São Paulo from Chicago. NY, Miami, Boston, Baltimore, Washington, Newark, Orlando, Fort Lauderdale, Toronto, Montreal, Houston, Dallas, Atlanta, Los Angeles also have direct flights. And most of them probably are daily also.
Q: People speak English?
A: Probably no. People tend to be helpful, but you gonna suffer a lil bit if you don't speak Portuguese. (No, our first language isn't Spanish, but is could be understandable since both are latin languages)

It’s late March in New York, and today the Milwaukee Brewers are supposed to open their season against the Mets. But the city’s battered by rain, so the Brewers are instead cooped up in their midtown Manhattan hotel, rained out and shut in. Christian Yelich, the former MVP and longtime face of the Brewers’ franchise, has no problem with waiting. This is his 12th season in the big leagues, and Mother Nature isn’t the only obstacle he’s faced along the way. Chilling for an extra 24 hours is a little easier for Yelich than it is for some of his less-seasoned, extra eager teammates. “Especially Chourio, who was a teenager two weeks ago,” Yelich laughs, referring to Jackson Chourio, the 20-year-old phenom he now shares the outfield with.
At 32 years young, Yelich is now the oldest position player on the Brewers’ roster. “Which is really crazy because I don't feel like one of the older guys,” he says. “I guess I still feel like I mix it up pretty well with the young guys. They're all really talented players, but very, very, very young,” he adds, each very communicating respect for his teammates born in the 2000s while also emphasizing surprise at his newfound veteran status.
If Yelich comes off as younger than his years, it’s in part because he is, in so many ways, built from the classic Southern California ballplayer mold. Growing up in Thousand Oaks turned his laidback levels up to a million, and as we chat in one of the hotel’s spacious conference rooms, his voice rarely goes up or down, mirroring the calm he exudes in the batter’s box. He wears a plain-colored hoodie and a pair of understated Nikes (stealth wealth, but make it baseball), and nurses a cup of coffee from the team’s breakfast spread. He’s got the tall and wiry build typical of long-ago ballplayers, but his clean-shaven, angular face has drawn comparisons to Pete Davidson for nearly a decade now. “Every night somebody will scream it from the stands,” he says. “Or somebody will come up on the street and they think it's the first time I've ever heard it. Thanks, man.” (For what it’s worth, I’ve always thought he looks more like a less debaucherous, more athletic member of The Strokes, one who swung a baseball bat rather than a guitar.)
At this stage of his career—and his life—Yelich occupies a space fairly unique to athletes. He’s the oldest hitter on the team, but he’s not old at all in real life. He’s still really good, but he’s not quite at the level that won him an MVP. He’s closer to the end of his playing days than he is the beginning, but whenever that ending comes—and it may not come for a while—he’ll still have a whole life to lead. That’s part of the reason why, he tells me, he’s embraced social media more than most of his quiet (some would say boring) MLB contemporaries. His willingness to put himself out there comes from knowing that time spent as a professional baseball player is very finite, and thinking “it is cool to document some of this stuff.” This is partially why he enlisted the help of Tom Brady’s crack social media team to give his Instagram some of the same flavor. Cribbing young and modern ideas from an older, lionized figure is kind of perfectly symbolic: thanks to fortuitous timing, Yelich can be seen as a bridge between different eras of baseball, and the way our feelings and opinions about the game have changed over time.
Yelich was a 2010 first-round pick by the Florida Marlins, before the Miami rebrand, and debuted as a 21-year-old in 2013. Some teammates from his first two years with the Marlins—we’re talking dudes like Juan Pierre, Plácido Polanco, and Rafael Furcal—are straight out of the Remember Some Guys catalog. He’s played with Ichiro (born in 1973), and now with Chourio (born in 2004, the same week Agent Cody Banks 2 came out). Apart from winning it all, he’s seen mostly everything the game can throw at a guy, literally and figuratively. “I've been on teams where we haven't been good,” he says. “I've been on teams where the general manager became the actual manager. I've been on teams where, unfortunately, a teammate passed away in the middle of the season. I've been traded, been on playoff teams. I've had good years, I've had years that were tougher. I think the longer that you play, you kind of get to experience all this stuff and you draw from all those experiences. Hey, I know shit seems good or I know shit seems bad right now, but just stay the course. Who knows what it's going to look like in September?”
It is obvious that the tumult he’s referring to here is the end of his run with the Marlins. There wasn’t a lot of winning in those years, or during any part of his tenure with the Fish, for that matter, even though Yelich was slowly turning into one of the best young players in the league, and played with young stars like the late José Fernández, Giancarlo Stanton, J.T. Realmuto, and Nathan Eovaldi. Tragedy struck in 2016 when Fernández, just 24, died in a boating accident during the season. In many ways, that era of Marlins’ baseball died with him. The team traded Yelich and the rest of the young core in the following years, leaving them with very little to show for a period that began with so much promise.
Even amid a concerted youth movement, Yelich spent time with a couple of GOATs. Barry Bonds was briefly the team’s hitting coach, which came with its own challenges. What works for the greatest hitter of all time doesn’t exactly work for everyone. “Picking his brain helped me tremendously,” Yelich shares. “But there were definitely some times where it was like, ‘Yes, I get it. But also, you're Barry Bonds.’” And Yelich says the most nervous he’s ever been was when the Marlins were in Colorado, where his then-teammate Ichiro recorded his 3,000th hit. Yelich estimates 150 members of the Japanese media had been following them around for weeks, waiting for their compatriot to reach the historic milestone. “He finally gets it, we go out to the field, and we're playing catch in between innings. I remember being like, ‘Don't fucking throw this ball over his head right now. Just don't fuck it up.’ Thankfully I didn't do that, which was cool.”
Along with being a bridge to a litany of revered retired guys, Yelich is also a bridge from one style of baseball to another. In the late 2010s, he became one of the poster children for an analytical trend that had taken the game by storm. Call it the launch angle revolution, “elevate and celebrate”, whatever—just know the basic tenets are that if you hit the ball in the air you will do much more damage.
During the 2018 season, his first with the Brew Crew, Yelich went from a nice foundational piece to a bona fide superstar. There, and somewhat remarkably, he overhauled his entire offensive approach on the fly, turning from a ground ball machine—in fact, when he was a Marlin, literally nobody in the league hit the ball on the ground more often than him—to one of the league’s most feared power threats. His batting average shot up, and so did his power numbers: he finished the 2018 campaign with 36 home runs, 15 more than his career high.
Yelich says it all began with an opposite-field dinger he smacked in the 2018 All-Star Game. “I came back in the second half and started messing around with some stuff in the cage, just honestly getting loose that day. I told our hitting coach, ‘Hey, don't freak out. I'm just messing around for these 15 swings. I wonder what will happen.’” Something…happened. “It was like, Oh, wow. This really feels good. I'm going to keep doing it. What do I have to lose? I might as well fuck around with this and see what happens. I got really locked in and kept tinkering with it throughout that year and into the offseason. It was something really little and it just kind of became what it became. And it all started on that first day back from the All-Star break!”
That change—along with the success it brought—helped Yelich become an almost divine figure in Wisconsin. When Yelich was traded there in January 2018, the Brewers had fallen on hard times, missing the playoffs for six years straight. The new guy’s impact was immediate, and sustained. That year he led the team to the brink of the World Series, and the Brewers returned to the postseason each of the next three years as well, giving Milwaukee its best four-year run in the team’s entire history. That made Yelich one of the golden boys of the upper Midwest—a title not without its perks. “It’s a great sports town. Summer in Milwaukee is pretty cool!” he insists. “People tailgate the games! It's really cool to be a part of. I wasn't very familiar [with Milwaukee] until I got traded there.”
One place that ride has taken him is to a new tax bracket. Every professional athlete these days does well at the bank, to be clear, but very few have ever signed a contract like the one Yelich did in 2020. On March 6 of that fateful year, the Brewers inked Yelich to a nine-year, $215 million contract extension. Just a handful of days later, the world shut down, leaving the newly mega-rich outfielder in a bit of an odd place. “I think that's your goal forever,” he says of getting the nine-figure bag. “But how many guys does that ever really happen to? Signing a big deal is so rare, and then to finally have that in front of you, for me, was a surreal experience. It was just such a cool moment, and then a week later you're like, ‘What the fuck happened? We're going home?’”
When the abbreviated 2020 season finally got off the ground, Yelich struggled for the first time. He went from hitting .327 over the previous two seasons all the way down to an unrecognizable .205 in 2020. And even when things returned to normal in 2021, he experienced back troubles that kept him off the field for a chunk of the season and zapped his power. 2022 brought more regression, as he led the league in ground ball percentage again and finished with just 14 home runs, causing some to say that his home run barrage had been a fluke. It wasn’t until 2023 that he started to straighten out again. But his statistical decline also coincided with growing rumors—and eventually revelations—that MLB had been using a different, seemingly rocket-fueled ball during his heyday. Yelich detractors now had scientific evidence that his best power year was the result of playing the game on a slightly easier mode. When I ask if being labeled a juiced-ball benefactor bothers him, though, he is California chill about it all.
“Yeah, but people are always going to have an opinion on everything, and everybody was playing with the same stuff!” he offers. “If they’re saying ‘19 was the juiced ball year, if you look back on a lot of those home runs, I think I only had a couple where I'm like, I don't know if that should have been a homer. There's maybe three or four where I'm like, ‘Ehhh.’”
Despite a recent back injury, his 2024 is off to a roaring start, too, the type to invite the We’re so back conversations. But whether or not he ever gets back to the Christian Yelich of old, I get the sense that he’s at peace no matter what. I ask if he ever compares himself to…himself, the MVP version, and he explains that that’s not really his thing. “I mean, look, they were great years and it was great experiencing them, but I don't think you can keep chasing the dragon,” he says. “Each year has to be its own thing. How you move, how your body moves, how the game is, it's different than it was six years ago, so you don't want to watch stuff from that year and try to copy it. My whole thing is just to be the best version of you this year, whatever that is.”

Messi scores a 51st minute banger from outside in a 3-2 away win against Sporting Kansas City in front of a huge, 70K plus crowd. Messi seems fully back from his injury (rest) and now it feels like a multigoal game might be coming soon.
On this goal Messi shows why he is the king of small spaces. In the center of the field about 35 yards from goal he is closely marked by Willy Agada. But as soon as Agada runs to cover the Inter Miami player with the ball, a few yards further up, Messi moves into the space that was vacated. Messi receives the pass in the pocket, takes a few touches and unleashes a wicked knuckleball shot, from a outside the penalty box semicircle, which goes above the goalies outstretched hand into the top of the net. The goalie had time to react and see the ball, but seemed thrown by the knuckleball effect.

Messi's last three or so goals have all come from around the penalty box semicircle. MLS opponents need to better at marking this spot!
