Moving from Hawaii to SD

San Diego Sport News Reddit - Sun, 03/24/2024 - 21:26

Hello, San Diego native to north county here. I’m currently in the army and am looking to getting stationed in SD. How exactly does renting work or does it vary from place to place? For example I’m in Hawaii right now and pay for rent, utilities, and electricity. Utilities gets added to the rent and electricity is separate. Any insight would be helpful! TIA

Secluded Artist is Love-Skeptical (36M) / advice needed

San Diego Sport News Reddit - Sun, 03/24/2024 - 21:21

I’ve completely stopped trying to find a relationship and I’m not sure how I feel about it to be honest.

// TL;DR; Is it worth it in today’s dating world, are good relationships worth the work? How common are good relationships if we’re being honest? //

To put things in perspective I was married when I was in my late twenties, very short marriage and chose my wife extremely poorly. She cheated on me for a few years with multiple people and was even trying to have a child with me during this time. Eventually I figured it out and we got a divorce, that was when I was around 29-30.

She spent about 80k of credit cards/ debts in my name because I was stationed overseas in the military at the time and had to give her a power of attorney to sign legal documents for our joint finances. We haven’t spoken since then we split in 2017, we both cut all ties, never talked since and I moved across the country. I made my peace with the whole situation, grieved and moved on.

It’s sad I have to say this but I am mentally sound, no ptsd from being in the military, I just fixed aircraft and was never in any kind of combat or any danger. Living in San Diego CA, and Tokyo Japan for most of my time, it was very good.

I had to file bankruptcy after the divorce and it was the worst time of my life. That being said, I also learned so much in that time, it woke me up in a way, and I started focusing on who i wanted to be and started working on it. No alimony or anything like that, I was very fortunate how it ended despite everything.

Now I’m 36, no kids, single, built an amazing life for myself as a property manager for a wealthy estate on the coast of Maine, US. I bought a decent cottage by the ocean and spend most of my time in nature, I see my family often and have a few good friends but rarely see them because I live on a small island that requires a boat ride to get to. I have everything I need and don’t have any debts or problems, I’m not rich but I can’t ask for much else in this life. Maybe a dog at some point.

I’m not trying to “boast” or anything like that, but I’ve literally gone from the lowest point of my life to the highest in about 6 years and it was all due to my own determination, no one helped me at all, no one even knew about any of this besides my family, and a couple close friends I talked to.

I’m at the point in my life where I’m really happy, and I used to be so depressed, it was really bad for a while but I’m good now. I haven’t dated anyone in a while, it’s been so long and I haven’t even realized it until recently when I was doing some reflection. Around 4 years I’ve been not dating, no hook ups, nothing.

I’m not ugly, I have a lot of tattoos, 5ft 9 and fit 165lbs, don’t smoke or drink, don’t do drugs and I’ve always been extremely witty when it comes to banter and just talking with women in general, but for the life of me I just can’t do it anymore, I just don’t want to. This is my current situation.

Most of the women I’ve talked to are very nice, but I’ve been trying make sure I’m not choosing the wrong woman again and I’ve been pulling back more and more over the years, and now I’m at this point where I’ve just given up.

A woman is not going to just appear one day, I understand I need to put in the effort, but at this point if I don’t meet someone outside walking, hiking, or doing something in real life it’s not going to happen.

I don’t use dating apps, never ever been on one, don’t post on anything and the older I get the more work it feels like. I’m so independent I feel like it’s more work than I have the appetite for. I’ve heard of people like me being called “damaged goods”, as demoralizing as that sounds, there is a bit of truth to that statement and I’d be remiss to not admit that.

I have been working on my hobbies and doing a lot of art, woodworking, landscaping, gardening, painting, playing music and making all sorts of creative endeavors, and it’s brought me immense joy, but I have given up on trying to date. I’m basically an “Art-Monk” at this point living out in my little ocean cottage and for the life of me I can’t find a good reason to try and date again, every time I go over it in my head I just see all the ways it could absolutely ruin everything. But also all the ways it could bring me more happiness.

Do I need to start talking with a therapist about all of this? This is clearly some sort of a defense mechanism I’m sure but I love my solitude so much, I feel like I’m invincible, getting into a relationship feels like a huge gamble to me. I have so much freedom and peace but I’m worried that I may be missing something. But I’m not sure I want to bet my life on it, the life I built from the rubble of another life, is it worth it?

Has anyone else been where I am in their life or have any advice? If you read this far, thank for listening, I do appreciate it. Clearly I can use some insight and I’ll definitely start to talk to some sort of therapist about all of this and maybe I can unpack some things that may be subconscious or plain as day, I’m sure it’s a good thing to do.

Thanks for any feedback //

// TL;DR; Is dating mid 30s a good decision if my life is going very well ATM, if I struggle with this is there more at play internally //

Itinerary Moab - Zion - GC - Possible/ok?

San Diego Sport News Reddit - Sun, 03/24/2024 - 17:49

So I will be travelling end of April to the states with my dad. So Grand Canyon is kinda a must despite the driving distance. Starting point is Moab and our destination is San Diego.. So far fixed is the following 22-26 April Moab and surrounding area 26-27 April Torrey (on the way Capotiol Reef and Goblin Valley) 27-28 April Zion (on the way quick stop in Escalante and then Bryce) 28-30 April Zion (2 full days Zion) 30-2 May Grand Canyon South Rim (on the way stop in Page and Horseshoe bend, 1 full day at GC and maybe maybe one evening + one morning) 2 May driving to San Diego

I know south rim GC adds a lot of miles, but we gotta see it.

But how about the rest of the route? I know we probably miss out a bit on the parks near Escalante like peek a boo. Also on the way to GC Antelope.

Would you do something different or is the route ok?

We have already made reservations, but we could still change a bit.

Is there maybe anything on the way from GC to San Diego for stopping? Its a long way and we want to walk a bit in between and maybe eat something good.

Meet Steve Slepcevic - Host of Recent RFK Jr. Fundraiser

San Diego Sport News Reddit - Sun, 03/24/2024 - 17:44

Steve recently held an event for RFK Jr. - https://www.kennedy24.com/san-diego-reception (archive in case they delete past event pages - https://archive.ph/joNsY). For those not familiar with his work, here’s some background on yet another quality guy backing RFK Jr.

Shocker - Steve was at J6 and associates with other MAGA/Qanon types:

Steve also has an autistic child and recently held an autism conference in San Antonio (https://autismhealth.com/) featuring speakers like Del Bigtree, Judy Mikovits, Mikki Willis, and Peter McCullough, many of whom, like RFK Jr., have participated in Mike Flynn’s Reawaken America tour (aka the RAT). One person of color who attended was surprised that the conference was less about autism and more about the usual conspiracies and the message was posted on Instagram:

Disaster Recovery Guy - Issues With Regulators and Homeowners

Steve is in the disaster recovery business, but has had some issues in the past where his “help” allegedly led to homeowners being deceived - his company faced charges in multiple states, as well as complaints by victims of Hurrican Katrina and CA wildfires.

Archive of LA Times article - https://archive.ph/81aeB

“....The day before the San Francisco conference, California suspended his contractor’s license. Weeks earlier, a judge had thrown out his petition for personal bankruptcy.

In the bankruptcy case, Slepcevic had acknowledged 21 claims against him or Paramount. But the U.S. trustee said in court papers that Slepcevic was “actively concealing” a $200,000 fine by the California Department of Insurance and six related criminal charges for allegedly misrepresenting himself to victims of California wildfires. ....

Slepcevic and Todd, who joined the company in 2005, built the business as legal complaints mounted. They often fought government regulators by filing copious challenges on everything from technical to constitutional grounds. Many civil lawsuits were simply ignored, leaving plaintiffs to pursue default judgments, court records show. ....

Ratanji estimates he has already spent $45,000 pursuing Paramount in court. “It shows you why most people don’t complain,” said Irving, his attorney......”
