17 Duty Stations

San Antonio Sport News - Tue, 04/23/2024 - 17:23

Currently going to MEPS tomorrow to swear in as a 17C. I’m not getting a choice of duty station, so I was going to make my top 3 choice 1. Ft. Meade / Gordon 2. San Antonio 3. Schofield. Has anyone had experiences at any of these locations? I haven’t been able to find a lot of information pertaining to how well cyber jobs are at the locations. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Oh no! He’s done!

San Antonio Sport News - Tue, 04/23/2024 - 17:15

After shilling joma for years, he flips on them! Why didn’t he share any of concerns during the countless streams where he recommended we go there? The influencer contract obviously just ended… on Jomas side.

Question for DFW residents: How often is your mailbox (or mailroom if you live in an apt) broken into? And what general area do you live in?

San Antonio Sport News - Tue, 04/23/2024 - 16:04

(****You don't need to be specific about neighborhood or zip code)

I'm from DFW but unfortunately have to live in San Antonio for a few years. I've been here for almost three years and our apartment mailboxes have been compromised no fewer than 10 times. At least quarterly, we get an email stating that mailboxes have been broken into and we have a new mailroom code. Apparently the post office knows about this sort of thing happening all over the area but can't do anything about it.

Mail crime is nothing new and not unique to San Antonio, but I spent most of my life (almost 30 years) in the Dallas area and only ONCE had this issue (it was the early 2000s, and the police actually took it seriously enough to investigate and found the culprit). I've lived in New York City and never had this problem. I'm desperate to come back to the Dallas area because I miss it immensely, but I want to know if this is a problem I'm just going to have to deal with when I finally move back. Are the cities that have historically been considered the "better" parts of the metroplex like Frisco, McKinney, Plano, etc. dealing with this kind of BS now?

Whether you live in an apartment, an HOA, or a non-HOA neighborhood, do you often deal with mail theft?

President Taylor statement

San Antonio Sport News - Tue, 04/23/2024 - 15:30

This is relating to some of the comments on Instagram. Some students are upset that the word “antisemitism” was included in the statement. I 100% support the president’s wording in this statement. Contrary to belief, I have seen pro Palestinian protestors who are antisemitic (via Snapchat). Not to mention the previous incident that occurred in the JPL library where someone expressed their hate for Jews in a foreign language in writing. The president of the university is doing great at making sure that there will be no hate regarding the Palestine protests on either side of the coin. I do wish he would stand up for some other issues on campus (religious recruiters, pro life protests, ect). I also like how the university made sure there would still be good foot traffic by inserting orange barriers. A lot of people shit on this university but they’re doing a good job

Lube

San Antonio Sport News - Tue, 04/23/2024 - 14:35

Okay so I got two different kinds. Someone said super lube and this was all I found.

But then when I was explaining it someone said to try this blaster stuff which doesn’t leave behind a residue or anything just leaves like a dried lubicated surface. Has teflon or something along those lines in it.

Are both cool to use on my axis rods? Want to lube up my x axis rods in my xplus3 and then is there anything I should lubricate on my Bambi x1c?

Unsure how to choose a city to live in as a new grad

San Antonio Sport News - Tue, 04/23/2024 - 14:26

Hi! Me and my bf and looking to leave our college town and move to a larger and more lively area. Currently live in Lubbock TX and I’ve lived in a very small (<2000ppl) town my whole life before this. I’m not really sure of the best way to evaluate where I should move or to what area of some large cities I should look at? We’ve thought about Austin, DFW, San Antonio, Colorado Springs, Denver, but I would love some advice or insight from people who live in these places or close by before we commit. Neither of us have jobs yet but are/have been applying. We like good food, outdoors activities, and both of our families live in Texas so moving super far without a job lined up is not really on the table for us rn. Ideally would love to be in an area with other younger people. Thanks :)
