From San Diego to ? - does it even exist?

Seattle Sport News Reddit - Mon, 04/22/2024 - 15:56

(Sorry this got a bit long, I went back and highlighted things in bold so you can just skim if you want).

Currently living in San Diego (for 6 years) and love it here for the most part, but lately a lot of my priorities have shifted and buying a house is increasingly important to me, as I'm single, just turned 40, and am thinking about security for my future. Which means I would like to live well under my means rather than so close to it. Although I work in tech and make a "good" salary, I am still priced out of anything I would want to buy here, so with great sadness I am considering alternatives. Just need a small 2 bedroom house, the numbers say I could afford up to $600k but I would prefer to spend much less, maybe around 400k. I'm pretty handy, I can fix things up a bit. A lot of cities that people would consider expensive probably will feel more affordable for me by comparison since I've gotten used to really high costs for a lot of things.

I have over a year to visit places and decide. I work fully remote so have my pick of almost anywhere.

I'm struggling with how to order my priorities, so take most things with a grain of salt here, I guess, I could be flexible on certain things.

  • I have multiple disabilities which make it really, really difficult for me to live in a very cold place. I'm originally from upstate NY and lived way too many harsh, cold, grey winters; I know I cannot do it again. I also recently visited some desert (low and high) and the dryness wreaked havoc on my body. I might be able to tolerate somewhere that gets snow for like less than 2 weeks a year. I'm not the kind of person that misses seasons though. I've also recently developed kind of severe asthma from mold exposure and we're not sure yet whether it's the kind that will clear up eventually or my lungs will be sensitive to a wide variety of allergens forever. A variety of environmental allergens have been a problem for me in the past, but also maybe these things could be manageable with the right medications.
  • City size is only a factor in so much as it affects the other factors: access to good healthcare and delivery services, enough people to make friends and date, things to do, although I've been somewhat of a homebody lately. My initial guesstimate would be between 300,000 and 3 million or so, so wide variety of options there. Walkability is not a huge priority, although a few cool walkable neighborhoods is always a plus, and I'm not the hugest fan of driving, so I don't want everything to be 45 minutes apart. Slower pace of life is ok with me, I've been so burned out by decades of career climbing and trying to do too much.
  • My only real problem other than the cost with San Diego is that it's been really hard to connect with people here. (Disclaimer: the pandemic really cut into my time here, so I acknowledge this may not be everyone's experience.) I have met many lovely people of course, but people tend to be somewhat transient here due to the COL, I've had so many friends move away already. :( And there's also a different social culture here. How do I say this without offending anyone... in the northeast people are very direct but here they will appear nice but in actuality maybe aren't being that nice, and I do miss the directness of the east coast sometimes, and would prefer people to be kind rather than nice, if I had to choose. When I moved here, it was with the intention of putting down roots and never having to move again, so I am looking for real community. A lot more people than expected are also openly hostile to transplants here too, which I find bizarre. You don't own a city just because you were born here. I'm just trying to mind my own business and spend money at local businesses.
  • Beautiful things matter to me and affect my mental health more than I'd like to admit, whether that's the ocean, forest, beautiful architecture, a bustling arts scene, or an adorable little village. Like I won't be happy in a strip mall kind of place. I really love to be near some kind of water: ocean, lake, or river. I'm outdoors-ish, but not like an avid hiker or skier or anything like that.
  • I'm a little hesitant about living in a red state, although I'm totally willing to reserve judgment and get some more boots on the ground experience if y'all say I should give a specific city a try. Without going into too much detail, I do have some unconventional ideas about living, and they tend to upset conservative people. I am very, very not-religious. Not interested in kids, marriage, etc and I'm lucky to no longer have a uterus, so those types of laws don't affect me personally too much, but I do have a deep ideological problem with them.
  • I like to think I'm pretty aware of common sense and surroundings, but safety does matter to me.
  • Things that don't matter to me: being close to family, sports teams, winter activities, being near an international airport or hub (although AN airport is a must), bustling night life, school districts

Impressions on places I've lived and visited before, just to paint a fuller picture of some vibes:

  • Bay Area (Berkeley/Oakland) before and mostly liked it, but the COL seems similar to here in San Diego.
  • Ithaca, NY and loved the vibe but hated the snow.
  • I love visiting my friends/family in Portland and Seattle but am concerned about the greyness and the COL.
  • I hated Dallas/Ft Worth in Texas, everything is so far apart and the southern fakeness didn't work well for me.
  • Not a fan of Los Angeles at all, idk it's just not a vibe. Maybe too big.
  • I get way, way overstimulated in a place like NYC. Too much noise, sound, lights, smells, not enough sky.
  • Driving through Montana was really beautiful and I loved Missoula but know I couldn't tolerate the winters there.

It seems like from what I've read here, I should consider Sacramento, and maybe somewhere in the mid-east coast from SC to Maryland?? If you reply, could you please say more than a city name? Like why you think it fits me, or which factors I would need to be flexible on.

Should I move to Seattle, WA or Arlington, VA?

Seattle Sport News Reddit - Mon, 04/22/2024 - 15:01

Hi all,

I am a single 32yr old man living in London. I have lived here my whole life and I sort of feel like I am in a rut and I need a big big change. I work for one of the biggest tech companies in the world, who has a head office in Arlington, VA or Seattle, WA. They want to move me to the US, to one of these offices.

In my head, I sort of have a 2+3 year plan. After two years I would come back to England (unless something kept me there longer), trying to save like 30%-40% of my salary.

I don't really know how to ask this apart from the fact that it would be great to get peoples opinions on a move to Arlington, VA or Seattle, WA.

I do enjoy living in a big city, and I know that neither are the metropolis that London is. Wherever I move, I would prefer to be somewhere close to my office with things near by where I can entertain myself in the evenings and the winter weekends. I am not against the outdoors and happy to do things out of my comfort zone. Although I don't typically do a lot of outdoors (hiking etc) here, I think I would be quite excited to check out all the national parks etc the US has to offer.

I can drive but my initial plan is to be in a place where a car is not necessary and then rent when necessary.

I think I would earn around $115k a year (pre-tax) in either location. It seems like rent for a 1 bed apartment is around $2.5k a month. What are the general cost of bills? If I was living fairly frugally (cooking my own lunches, eating out maybe once a week, once every two weeks etc, trying to do free activities and sports), is it possible to save 50% of my monthly pay check? Or would I have to be living REALLY frugally, at which point I wouldn't enjoy living there?

The company I work at is absolutely huge, but they are know for being frugal and do not provide like free lunches etc that other tech companies do. I therefore don't know if we get benefits like medical care and other insurance that I have heard is necessary.

The other thing I would love to know about is social life. For people who have moved, did you make friends and social circle? Did they come through work or sports or other ways? How about dating?

Any thoughts or advice would be really appreciated!

Most Expensive Slice of Pizza

Seattle Sport News Reddit - Mon, 04/22/2024 - 14:11

As the title says whats the most expensive single slice of pizza youv either had or encountered then passed on recently and context like what city, country, etc. Not complaining since I either look it up prior or dont buy it myself if Im not up for it. Just curious as far as others experiances with this traditionally affordable tasty food.

For me bar none would be Toni Gemignani's slice house spots at SF sports games at $15 a slice and if stadium markup is cheating Roccos here in Seattle is $8 per for plain cheese and after paying surcharges for things like not paying cash/using a card in 2024, etc closer to 12. In both cases quality pizza to be fair I just remember living in NYC not all that many years ago and as overpriced as everything there is 24hr dollar slice spots existing.

Also inb4 the usual poors should all just eat frozen totinos and costco pizza and avoid actual pizzerias and damn you Joe Biden why did you did this to me?

Ron Francis: Kraken Exit Day 2024 Quotes and News

Seattle Sport News Reddit - Mon, 04/22/2024 - 12:31

I'll be updating this post with quotes from Ron Francis's season-end press conference.

Similar thread with interviews with players and Dave Hakstol - https://new.reddit.com/r/SeattleKraken/comments/1c8wztv/kraken_exit_day_quotes_and_news/

https://twitter.com/sound_hockey/status/1782470161213292555

GM Ron Francis’ year end press conference is underway. Opening remarks: “The big difference this year is we couldn’t score like we did last year.” References shooting percentage decline. But compliments defense and goaltending.

https://twitter.com/AlisonL/status/1782470753415578073

Francis: on optimism about young developing players "our pipeline is very bright but there's a process to that." Says development isn't linear. There's a lot of good pieces, the challenge is intertwining them with what we have in the lineup."

https://twitter.com/sound_hockey/status/1782471668319039944

GM Ron Francis on whether the entire coaching staff will return: "We're still in that process now." Mentions that he thinks it was a bit of a "unique" season with injuries. Says "you're going to read into it either way" with that answer, but that's where they are.

More on the coach review from https://www.seattletimes.com/sports/kraken/kraken-coach-dave-hakstols-future-on-hold-until-evaluation-is-complete/

Francis told reporters during a season-ending news conference at the Kraken Community Iceplex that the process is the same as he’s used in the team’s previous three seasons. That will include meetings with the coaching staff and the franchise’s management team.

https://twitter.com/KateShefte/status/1782471912985329821

Francis says Jordan Eberle broke his hand in the fourth Kraken game of the season, at home against Colorado. He referenced the fight against Logan O’Connor. Eberle played through it.

https://twitter.com/AlisonL/status/1782471930790178817

Francis says the message to players after last year's success was "don't this is going to be easy (to repeat)." After this year's slow start, that message was a "little more stern" - players need to be ready out of the gate.

https://twitter.com/sound_hockey/status/1782472163897098520

GM Ron Francis on Matty Beniers: "He continued to work hard in practice. He continued to be [the same person off the ice]." Francis thinks cold start to the year "weighed" on Beniers. Says he has "no concerns" about Beniers long term.

https://twitter.com/AlisonL/status/1782472562364358759

Francis says regarding McCann playing both wing and center that "in an ideal world" Kraken would like to have him at wing, but he's a good fallback option down the middle as well.

https://twitter.com/AlisonL/status/1782472960193986815

Francis on state of the prospect pool specifically the success with Firebirds - "they're playing in a winning environment and learning how to win." Gives credit to scouting, coaching and development staffs.

https://twitter.com/sound_hockey/status/1782473631349735832

GM Ron Francis: Says the team looked a number of things in free agency last summer but things "didn't fall the way way they wanted them to fall."

https://twitter.com/AlisonL/status/1782474037370990893

Francis says he feels confident about play in goal and the defense in front of it "going forward" with 6 of 7 defensemen from this season already under contract for next year and the development of Ryker Evans that Kraken saw this year.

https://twitter.com/sound_hockey/status/1782474920888598783

GM Ron Francis on the team's RFAs: "We'll get conversations going really soon with Tolvanen and Beniers." Says he expects to get something done there. On Yamamoto, Francis says they have to decide whether to qualify him or not because he has arbitration rights.

https://twitter.com/AlisonL/status/1782475417242435591

Francis points to effects of injury and being unable to play as part of Burakovsky's lower point totals - can affect your confidence in your game. The GM is excited that 95 will go play in Worlds and continue to get back to his timing / scoring touch

https://twitter.com/sound_hockey/status/1782475657756442873

GM Ron Francis on Shane Wright: "He's much more confident. He's having fun again." Mentions that Wright's late season stint in Seattle "couldn't have gone much better. I don't see any reason [Wright] couldn't make the team coming out of camp [next year]."

https://twitter.com/AlisonL/status/1782475844482646483

Kraken playing in Worlds: Tatar, Grubauer, Bellemare, Burakovsky, McCann, Tanev, Oleksiak. 6-7 others elected not to participate. One other player still deciding on whether or not to go.

https://twitter.com/sound_hockey/status/1782476732571976147

GM Ron Francis: As the year went along, the team talked about naming a captain for next year rather than the current set up. Says he'll be part of those conversations.

https://twitter.com/KateShefte/status/1782476813467517229

(follow-up to previous tweet) Rob Francis says it’s a neck injury. So this makes so much sense.

Vince Dunn, who appeared in just 2 games after an illegal hit March 4 from Calgary’s Pospisil, didn't elaborate much in his exit interview. Said it wasn’t an injury he “wanted to mess with. Not something you could really play through, jeopardize myself or my team’s performance.”

Where do I go to school for bme? UW, UCD, or NEU?

Seattle Sport News Reddit - Sun, 04/21/2024 - 22:06

I am deciding between University of Washington, UC Davis, and Northeastern University. My intended major is biomedical engineering and I am having a hard time finding out which school is the best academically and where I will get the most opportunities from (grad school, jobs, experience, etc).

Any opinions help!! I have been so stressed not knowing where to go.

I am planning no matter what to get a STEM degree and go to higher education after (masters, p.a. school, med school, phd)

UW-

Pros: campus is perfect, in Seattle (food+tech hub+lots to do), full college experience, lots of unique clubs, great greek system, ranked 25th for engineering, felt like students were very friendly and welcoming, lots of study abroad options

Cons: extremely capacity constrained major (will be stressed out first 2 years cuz i’m engineering undeclared direct to college), highest acceptance rate (prestige kinda bothers me+may mean it’s less desirable to companies/ less quality academically idk), weather, heard area is really unsafe

UC Davis-

Pros: In-state tuition, know a lot of kids that loved it (connections+reassuring), very stem focused, ranked 28th overall, ~35% acceptance rate, nice weather, close-ish to sf, sacramento, and silicon valley, yummy food in area, bme major seemed to have cool new classes, actually in my major, safe, cool study abroad options

Cons: Kinda in the middle of no where unless you take a 30+ min train ride, greek life looked eh, don’t know how hard it would be to get involved in research or internships in the area cuz Berkeley is right there, felt like no one looked like me (isolating?), eh sports

Northeastern:

Pros: Super low acceptance rate (would def feel good about myself), boston (activities, huge for biotech, lots to colleges in area), co-ops (not sure how clutch these are), medium size (maybe better advising + connections to professors), great ranking for engineering, probably good companies hiring

Cons: as a california kid i don’t know a lot about it, heard all they care about is $, admitted through NUin (abroad as a freshman, limits ability to go abroad later on in school), campus doesn’t feel 100% like a campus, not super well ranked overall (makes me nervous about quality of education+opportunities), hella expensive (parents would pay but may limit further educational opportunities), idk if i would fit in on the east coast, COLD

The Beards Daily First Inning Plays (Yesterday Win Rate 33%)

Seattle Sport News Reddit - Sun, 04/21/2024 - 04:35

Overall Record 94-81 53.71%

Reflecting on yesterday's MLB NRFI/YRFI (No Run First Inning/Yes Run First Inning) results, there was a mix of wins, losses, and several games correctly marked as passes, highlighting the variable outcomes in early-game scenarios. Let’s review the outcomes before moving on to today’s predictions.

Yesterday’s Results (4/20/2024): 4 - 8

  • Tampa Bay vs NY Yankees: Strong NRFI - Result: Win
  • Detroit vs Minnesota: Pass - Result: Pass
  • Milwaukee vs St. Louis: Very Strong NRFI - Result: Loss
  • Miami vs Chi Cubs (First Game): Strong NRFI - Result: Win
  • Arizona vs SF Giants: Strong NRFI - Result: Loss
  • Boston vs Pittsburgh: Very Strong NRFI - Result: Loss
  • NY Mets vs LA Dodgers: Strong NRFI - Result: Loss
  • Houston vs Washington: Very Strong NRFI - Result: Win
  • Chi Sox vs Philadelphia: Pass - Result: Pass
  • Oakland vs Cleveland: Strong NRFI - Result: Loss
  • LA Angels vs Cincinnati: Strong NRFI - Result: Loss
  • Baltimore vs Kansas City: Very Strong NRFI - Result: Win
  • Texas vs Atlanta: Pass - Result: Pass
  • Miami vs Chi Cubs (Second Game): Strong NRFI - Result: Loss
  • Seattle vs Colorado: Pass - Result: Pass
  • Toronto vs San Diego: Very Strong NRFI - Result: Loss

A diverse set of outcomes with a mix of accurate predictions and some unexpected results, demonstrating the challenges of consistently predicting the first inning dynamics.

Today’s Predictions:

  • Tampa Bay vs NY Yankees: Strong NRFI
  • Chi Sox vs Philadelphia: Strong NRFI
  • Houston vs Washington: Strong NRFI
  • Boston vs Pittsburgh: Very Strong NRFI
  • LA Angels vs Cincinnati: Strong NRFI
  • Oakland vs Cleveland: Strong NRFI
  • Detroit vs Minnesota: Pass
  • Baltimore vs Kansas City: Very Strong NRFI
  • Milwaukee vs St. Louis: Strong NRFI
  • Miami vs Chi Cubs: Strong NRFI
  • Seattle vs Colorado: Strong NRFI (Listed twice, both Strong NRFI)
  • Arizona vs SF Giants: Pass
  • Toronto vs San Diego: Strong NRFI
  • NY Mets vs LA Dodgers: Pass
  • Texas vs Atlanta: Pass

Today’s lineup includes a continuation of Strong and Very Strong NRFI predictions, suggesting confidence in no runs being scored in the first innings of most games. The strategic passes in select games show a careful approach to those matchups with less predictable outcomes.

Enjoy the games, and best of luck with your predictions. Always remember to engage in betting wisely and enjoy the sport for the fun and excitement it offers!

Kraken Exit Day Quotes and News

Seattle Sport News Reddit - Sat, 04/20/2024 - 12:34

Video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q6ngWcvqAwI

The Kraken players and Coach Hakstol are doing their final interviews today. I'll update this post with various quotes and if any interesting news comes out.

According to RJ from ECH, Ron Francis will do interviews on Monday. If the rumored move off Root Sports happens, it might get announced on Monday and Francis might address it during his conference. If not we will have to hurry up and wait.

P.S. I'm not looking at every media member's account, so if I miss a good quote please tag me in a comment and I'll add it in.

2:30pm update - looks like we're done for the day as the Islanders-Canes game has started.

4pm update - Beniers came out late, added some stuff for him

Justin Schultz

https://twitter.com/sound_hockey/status/1781719272559091917

Justin Schultz is up first addressing media. Says he hasn’t really thought much about his own future at this point. “Obviously, I love it here, and there’s still a lot to be played out. We’ll see what happens over the summer.”

https://twitter.com/AlisonL/status/1781718862645600376

Justin Schultz just chatted with us. Cites inconsistency as the biggest problem this year.

Jordan Eberle

https://twitter.com/sound_hockey/status/1781723325364072733

Jordan Eberle pointed to goal scoring as the biggest opportunity for improvement next season. He said he thought the team took steps in terms of goaltending and defense, but confidence and cohesion were lacking.

https://twitter.com/AlisonL/status/1781723228806799605

Eberle says Kraken we’re solid in net and defensively, obviously 5v5 scoring was an issue. Wants to see the team return to the will and drive they had last season.

Jaden Schwartz

https://twitter.com/sound_hockey/status/1781732464018485586

Jaden Schwartz said his offseasons are different now than earlier in his career. Says he’ll focus on taking care of his body. “This offseason is going to be a little bit longer than I’d like… At this point you’re not changing much. You’re just adding little things here and there that can help.”

https://twitter.com/AlisonL/status/1781731087619891684

Jaden Schwartz said the slow start to the season as well as letting the down periods last a little too long were factors in the season going the way it did.

https://twitter.com/EmeraldCityHky/status/1781732179103629531

Jaden Schwartz didn't have a concrete reason when asked why the team's scoring dipped this season. "We just couldn't couldn't get a grasp on it. Couldn't get that confidence. Couldn't get that momentum."

Jared McCann

https://twitter.com/AlisonL/status/1781741563544273186

Jared McCann: “We're gonna have to restart and reset. Everybody's going to have to come with a different mindset that we're going to be the underdogs again.”

https://twitter.com/sound_hockey/status/1781741569475002761

Jared McCann says he’s going into the offseason feeling healthy and is going to “go to Worlds and try to help Canada win a gold medal.” Says he’ll work this offseason on getting better defensively, and he learned this season that “center is hard.”

Yanni Gourde

https://twitter.com/sound_hockey/status/1781746747599102048

Yanni Gourde said, “Everybody was kind of struggling offensively, and we could feel it, we could sense it.” Said everyone has an individual responsibility to work on what they need to work on this offseason.

https://twitter.com/EmeraldCityHky/status/1781746924703678551

Yanni Gourde: "We knew we had much more to give this year than what we showed on the ice."

https://twitter.com/AlisonL/status/1781747127250792902

https://twitter.com/AlisonL/status/1781747473830268969

Yanni Gourde says it’s on each player to put in the work to be ready for next season: “nothing comes easy as an NHL player. You have to earn everything and you have to start earning in the summer when people aren’t looking.”

Gourde is a player who watches the playoffs. Says he watches what successful teams do and “takes some of that into the next year”

Vince Dunn

Video - https://twitter.com/sound_hockey/status/1781760911973421122

Hear from Vince Dunn about his health and also his thoughts on how messaging from the coaching staff was received as the season went on. Not included in the video, he said he was getting close to 100% and expects to train hard this offseason.

https://twitter.com/EmeraldCityHky/status/1781760839621783647

Vince Dunn on Ryker Evans: "He's an interesting cat...we're still trying to figure him out. Seems pretty introverted. He's super super organized."

Image - https://twitter.com/AlisonL/status/1781761898859635061

Vince Dunn on Ryker Evans (the last part said with a smile) was a delight

https://twitter.com/CirclingSports/status/1781761987627950174, https://twitter.com/CirclingSports/status/1781762378151100696, https://twitter.com/CirclingSports/status/1781762937348358228, https://twitter.com/CirclingSports/status/1781763759490650154

“I think there's only so much a coach can say. If you want to point fingers around the room it's easy to do with a coach, but ultimately it comes down to the guys in the room. We're the ones out there that need to do what it takes to win" Vince Dunn on Dave Hakstol

“I think being a little bit more assertive, more tenacious. I think scoring goals that aren't so pretty is something that we really need to look at…” Vince Dunn on the offensive struggles

“If you've ever been to another sporting event, it's the same as ours. An atmosphere that's not really like many other stadiums. When people come to watch our games, you can see how much they really do love watching us.” Vince Dunn on playing in Seattle.

“I'm very thankful that I've been part of this organization since the start and seeing what we've built, even the improvements they make day to day to make it even better... Players should be excited to want to come here.” Vince Dunn on the Kraken organization

https://twitter.com/KateShefte/status/1781762757760893050, https://twitter.com/KateShefte/status/1781762643726139823

Vince Dunn on the Climate Pledge Arena fans: "Probably walking into the stadium, a lot of those nights, they didn’t really know what they were going to get from us. Not that we only play for them, but they’re a huge piece to that. We need them behind us."

Vince Dunn, who appeared in just 2 games after an illegal hit March 4 from Calgary’s Pospisil, didn't elaborate much in his exit interview. Said it wasn’t an injury he “wanted to mess with. Not something you could really play through, jeopardize myself or my team’s performance.” Added he was close to full strength by the end of the season.

Oliver Bjorkstrand

https://twitter.com/sound_hockey/status/1781766931298849207

Oliver Bjorkstrand walked around the corner for his presser just as the entire media corps was eating sandwiches provided by @RJEskanosECH. Bjorkstrand: “Do you guys want me to come back?”

https://twitter.com/AlisonL/status/1781766925569368549

Bjorkstrand on Kraken offensive struggles: “of course there are games when you’re unlucky, but as a whole we had to be more in front of the net, more aggressive, be a little bit harder at winning battles.”

Dave Hakstol

https://twitter.com/CirclingSports/status/1781780330082648185

“That’s a discussion that I think is a valid discussion to have this summer.” Kraken Head Coach Dave Hakstol on the team potentially naming a captain.

video - https://twitter.com/sound_hockey/status/1781780519426093485

Here’s Dave Hakstol speaking on the Kraken’s scoring woes and what they can do differently next season.

https://twitter.com/KateShefte/status/1781779389753241617

Hakstol mentions Andre Burakovsky is headed to the world championship as well. Representing Sweden, unless Philipp Grubauer has something to say about it.

Image - https://twitter.com/sound_hockey/status/1781783580244611579

Here’s @RJEskanosECH presenting Dave Hakstol with a ceremonial Jimmy John’s sandwich.

https://twitter.com/CirclingSports/status/1781788322538607087c

“When I look at the growth of Will Borgen this year, that's something that doesn't draw a lot of attention. Tremendous in his role and in his comfortability in his role. It points to some really positive things to come in the future.” Kraken HC Dave Hakstol on Will Borgen.

Joey Daccord

https://twitter.com/sound_hockey/status/1781784195117023354

Joey Daccord said he’ll “put in some reps” to try to get a goalie goal next season. “I’ll get one eventually.”

https://twitter.com/AlisonL/status/1781783842501845397

Joey Daccord spoke to the appreciation he has and how grateful he is for Kraken fans. Said he only started getting “JO-EY!” Chants last year in Coachella Valley. For those to carry over to the NHL was “the coolest thing ever.”

https://twitter.com/CirclingSports/status/1781783704828006591

“I take it very seriously, the honor of representing Seattle. It means a lot to me that I have their support, we have their support. Getting the fan favorite award was very special for me, for sure.” Kraken Goaltender Joey Daccord on winning the Fan Favorite award this year

Matty Beniers

https://twitter.com/Benton_Mike/status/1781812160127214035

We’re done. Matty Beniers was the last to visit. Said he’s undecided if he’s watching the playoffs or will take a break. His Dad asked the same question. But mentioned an important item he’s working on in the summer to help him reach the next level: nutrition.

https://twitter.com/CirclingSports/status/1781814194758930929, https://twitter.com/CirclingSports/status/1781814536292757811, https://twitter.com/CirclingSports/status/1781814839658320158

“I think it's more going in the right areas. I'm gonna work on my shot regardless, but I think it's more being in the right area, not crowding my teammates. Being in really good areas to get pucks to get more chances.” Kraken F Matty Beniers on what he’ll work on offensively

“I love playing with him. He’s just a great guy to be around, great leader to have in that room, especially for young guys, who's done it all… Now we just got to get him a cup.” Kraken F Matty Beniers on Jordan Eberle and how valuable he is to this team.

“I love it here in Seattle. I think we'll see, I think we'll get something done.” Kraken F Matty Beniers on being an RFA this offseason.

38 [M4F] #Seattle Emotionally available and intelligent seeking friendship and sparks

Seattle Sport News Reddit - Sat, 04/20/2024 - 10:25

I am a 38 year old husband in a happy marriage living in Seattle. No kids, but I work with kids so I can relate to some of the joys and pains that come with them. We have 3 cats. I may share pictures of them upon request.

What are my joys? Reading. I usually have 2-3 books going at the same time. It's a mix of history, fiction, current events, sports, and psychology for the most part. I throw in a comic book every now and then. Always happy to hear about what you are reading and get new recommendations. I keep a list of new books to check out.

Baseball. I root for the Mariners because of where I live, but the Braves have my heart because of where I grew up. Shout out to the TBS Superstation. If you know, you know. But seriously, it's an outdoor sport that is super chill but still has tons of athleticism and strategy.

Music. The Civil Wars, Stevie Wonder, George Jones, Howling Wolf, Tyler Childers, and Chris Stapleton just to start. Tell me about your playlists and I will share mine. A good lyric is the way to my heart. A crazy guitar solo will make me smile every time.

There are more, but I must keep some mystery.

What do I have to offer? Emotional availability and support. I am a grown up, empathetic adult. I do my best to connect with and understand other people. I am a good listener. I am happy to celebrate your successes and be a balm during your failures.

Attention during work hours and after hours. I am free to message during most of the day, nights, and weekends. Obviously, I have a life so specific events will interrupt our time, but I have never had anyone complain I wasn't responsive enough.

Intelligence I am well read and well rounded. I know how to write. I also know when and how to apologize when I make mistakes. I am smart enough to understand you have a life and responsibilities you have to tend to as well.

I am 5'7 and 120 pounds with a full head of black hair and either a beard or mustache. I am happy to share a picture early on to establish attraction.

What do I want? I want a combination of the mundane and the exciting. I want to be able to chat about our lives like old friends on a Sunday afternoon at times and to feel the rush of seeing my phone light up with your name on Saturday night at other times. I want a spark and a positive connection for both of us. I want to give someone my attention and value them and receive their attention and be valued in return. I have other apps if you prefer. This one can be a little fussy at times.. I am open to phone calls and video calls in time.

Physically, pale brunettes are my kryptonite, but I am open to all body types and hair color and ethnicities. 30+ preferred. I might accept a little less than that if you are an old soul. I do not care what time zone you are in.

If you need a warm ray of sunshine with humor, charm, and intelligence, I might be just what you are looking for. If not, I wish you luck and speed in finding what you need in this life.
