So around April 10th I noticed a bird's nest in a hanging cubby on our fence on our deck in the backyard. I live with a few kids so I was skeptical on whether it was real or not so I looked & was met with a very startled mother bird & about 4 eggs, we've all left it alone since & things have been going fine. Sometimes we take a peek in there & the parent bird isn't really bothered, we've never touched it or gotten very close, just enough to peer over the edge. Today however my family member told me to check the area under where the nest was, because our dogs had been trying to sniff there. Unfortunately I found a dead baby bird, I assume fell out of the nest. I checked the nest & there is only one baby. My brother cleaned up the past tense hatchling, & he said the parent was chirping at him from overhead on our deck, & while he stepped away, it had gone back to the nest & sat there protectively, still chirping at him occasionally. However it's nearly midnight now, & the parent bird has not come back to the nest. Usually I see it in there all night, & it leaves a few times during the day. I'm starting to worry, especially because the baby isn't making any noise, but it is alive. I've dealt with another specie of bird in the past & their hatchlings were very loud & this one is not. The baby's beak also appears to be crooked?? The bottom doesn't align with the top. I'm in San Antonio Texas, & I believe the birds are Carolina Wrens(?) Photos are of the bird in the nest, the eggs prior to this event, & the baby today. Did my brother perhaps drive it away? Will it come back? Should I be looking into calling a wildlife rehab?

I don't buy the idea they are playing other sports.

I have lived in San Antonio for almost a decade, but I have a disabled child who needed a lot of care when he was younger so I didn't have much free time to make friends. I also was in a 5+ years long relationship so all my energy was poured into my family unit. All of my close friends from childhood have passed away unfortunately (separately) and suddenly I find myself without any kind of close friendships now that my relationship has ended. I really would like to concentrate on myself and make connections with friends who share similar interests as me. I enjoy video games, manga, cooking/baking, any kind of artwork and was thinking of dipping my toes into cosplaying. Does anyone know of any meetups or ways to meet people?

I'm from the Houston area, and I got accepted into UTMB and UTHSCSA schools but I'm trying to figure out what school I should go to. UTHSCSA is a two year program, however the med center in San Antonio is sketchy to live in. UTMB is a 16 month program but closer to home. I'm a scared that the work load would be too much for me. But do any of you guys have experience in these schools? Which one would you recommend? Also is a 16 month program doable? Thanks!

Before a concert(may have been San Diego Sports Arena), a local radio station held a contest in which, whoever made the “grooviest” love beads, would get to present them to Jimi Hendrix backstage. A winner was selected, but the dopes running the promotion neglected to inform one Mr. Hendrix. He quickly said, “Nah, I don’t think so.”; thus leaving the unlucky fan in a position to count their love beads, before they’re hatched.

It looks like the 2024 agenda hasn't been set yet but can anyone share experiences about prior conferences? I'm trying to judge if it might be a good experience for a 13 year old new cadet or if it will be too dry for her.

Back story.....Our whole family jumped into CAP at the start of this year. We have an eager soon to be 13 year old cadet and my wife and are new senior members. Tonight we just heard about the National Conference in San Antonio. We hadn't finalized summer vacation plans and so a trip to the conference, Sea World, Six Flags, and all the fun San Antonio has might be just the thing.

So long story short, what have prior conferences been like? Is there enough to hold the interest of our daughter or is it more tailored to senior members?

I bought this from another collector and all he could tell me about the artist is that his name is Xuljo and he’s very private. He got it from a shop in San Antonio, and it is a church window pane and he painted this on the inside of the glass. I need to get a warm diffused gallery light thing to go above it because the colors really pop out in the right light. The glass just causes a glare unfortunately. But does anyone know anything else? I’d love to know more

I got these three pieces in the last three days, each for a total steal! The red abstract one I have no idea who it is from, the people selling it said they thought it was creepy and they were just helping clear out this elderly man’s storage unit because he was going to a nursing home. The angel one is a church window frame and all I know is the artists name is Xuljo and he is very private and he is from San Antonio, and the flowers are from an estate sale of a lady who seemed to paint as a hobby, she wrote her name on the canvas, Audrey Blackwell. It was literally shoved up under a pile of frames in her shed and they let me have it for $15! Everything else was super expensive. I’m not sure if anyone has heard of Xuljo or Audrey Blackwell but I don’t really care. I’m obsessed with these pieces and they’re like the first “works of art” I’ve ever found and bought on my own. I’m also hopelessly obsessed with finding more lol

Rumor is LeBron is leaving LA. I think he should go to San Antonio. Wanted to put my thoughts out there and see where I’m wrong, but here’s my thinking:

1) It’s the place he can have the greatest impact on the game of basketball.

LeBron is already unquestionably top-2 all time, and in San Antonio he has an opportunity to pass the torch to the next generation and help mold the monster that Wemby can be. No one else knows what it’s like to be unguardable like LeBron does, and he loves the study of game. Wemby seems like nothing but an engaged student who wants to pursue greatness. If LeBron mentors Wemby to become the next goat contender, his own legacy and long term impact on the game of basketball will only be magnified.

2) it’s the best place for Bronny.

Bronny’s ceiling is Derrick White - not the most special athletically, but a smart player who does the right thing and helps win games. Derrick White played for Pop. The spurs, while being lousy, had the highest assist ratio of any team in the nba (or close to it im lazy but I’m sure it’s top 3), and Wemby needs people with a high IQ that can let him shine. Being a Robin to a Wemby could be his best chance at having a prolonged, winning career.

3) imagine the numbers

LeBron is a businessman as well as a basketball player. Imagine the numbers a LeBron-Wemby lineup would put up on a nightly basis. That would be must watch basketball, and there would be money to be made

4) it actually kind of works

With tre jones putting in solid mins as PG, and Jeremy Sohan showing abilities to be a solid two-way wing, a Vassell, Wemby, LeBron top-3 actually seems like a scary lineup. The depth isn’t totally there, but I think that add LeBron playing like he has been, with an improved Wemby that’s only getting better, that team beats this years version of the Lakers starting lineup.

Maybe this is just a selfish hope for the most exciting possible destination, but I’m curious what other people think.

We've been to Hyatt timeshare today, the staff was very nice, we didn't join it because we don't think it's worth it for us, however towards the end of the presentation - they did offer us the following:

• We pay $995 + $99 processing fee ($1094) and get 5 days 4 nights at the current resort in San Antonio (which is unfortunately for us 4-5 hour drive, it's not something we wish to do repeatedly....)
• It also requires us to come here, again, for 2 nights (3 days) for an update presentation and only then we would get that 5 days 4 nights.... it feels too hectic because of the distance, at least for me .... my wife still has 2nd thoughts about it.
• In addition, we would get 48,000 World of Hyatt points, and my wife checked it and saw normal hotels charge around 7,000 - 8,000ish points per night, so that gives us extra 6 nights at Hyatt hotels of our choice, these could be near where we live....

My wife thinks it has some value, but the long drive deterred us from buying it ... just driving here twice, back & forth, 4-5 hour each way, feels like too much .... yes, we have 18 months to use that 5 days 4 nights (and it's extra $300 at peak season e.g. June - August ... we were looking probably towards October) .... still .... we're checking out tomorrow from the resort.

Do you see any value in this package that suggests to buy it despite the long drive or if you were in our shoes you would do the same thing and say no thanks due to the very long drive?
