TLDR; I did a dumb thing then was mugged and robbed by Coachella security. It’s now being investigated.
This is obviously a throwaway, I’m pretty damn active in this sub and don’t want to identify myself yet. I’ve been going to Coachella since 2017 and there’s nothing I love more.
This story is pieced together from my experience, and the experience of my friends as witnesses. They were also harassed and gave written and verbal statements/reports.
Please bear with me and read until the end.
On Sunday evening, my crew (3 people) was heading back into the festival from camping. We were all on shrooms. Not tripping sack, but having a vibey little high.
We were stopped and searched for the first time at the main entrance security checkpoint. Security found my container of party goods. My dipshit stupid ass let the intrusive thoughts win, I grabbed the container and headed into the festival. One security officer put their arm out, I stepped to the side and kept it moving. I didn’t fight, lay a single hand on anybody, or get physical.
I was swooped up off my feet from behind and body slammed to the ground. I still wasn’t willing to fight. I immediately gave it up and thought “well that was dumb of me. I’m definitely in trouble now”. I didn’t know the abuse that would ensue next. Right away I said “I’ll be compliant, please don’t hurt me”.
Then some security officer started screaming that I had punched her in the face. I’ve never hit anybody in my life. The thought of swinging didn’t even cross my mind. I didn’t touch anybody, and I said so.
I was taken behind a fence where I was thrown to the ground again, and surrounded by approx 15 security people. They kept telling me I was going to jail for assault for throwing punches. I kept saying I would never hit anybody and I didn’t. They kept telling me to stand up, and then they would push me back to the ground. A big man, approx 6’3” 300 lbs, came over and said “you stupid bitch I’m going to bitch slap you” and wound up to hit me. I said “what why?” And he just kept winding up to slap/punch me. He would leave and come back and wind up to hit/kick me again while I was on the ground. This man was a supervisor.
At this point I started to record and put my phone face down camera up. They came and took my phone, saw I was recording, and asked why. I said “because he keeps threatening to hit me and I’m scared.” They knocked my hat off my head, pulled my hair, and used my face to unlock my phone. They walked off with my phone.
A few minutes later, a woman came back with my phone and said I needed to call a friend for my safety. I unlocked my phone, saw it was open to my camera roll, said “wait why is my camera roll open?”, and she took my phone and ran off again.
Security raided my belongings, they stole $130 cash, my money clip, my gift cards, my jewelry, and my nicotine vape. That’s all I have noticed for now. I heard them say “take all of her shit”.
My friend took a video of the woman who claimed I punched her coming out from behind the fence dancing, and passing out my belongings to her team. They were celebrating. One saw my friend filming, put a mask on, and approached him telling him if he didn’t delete the video he was going to be detained and arrested. They told him I was going to jail for assault and he would go to jail too if he didn’t delete the video in front of them. They made him delete the video and also delete it from his recently deleted.
They separated my 2 friends on the outside, and started grilling my other friend about what kind of assets I had, if I had any cash on me, etc. super bizarre questions. They told her she had to answer or I would go to jail. They told her I was scared and really needed her help.
In the midst of all this, two angel higher up security people walked into what was happening. Let’s call them John and Jane. I later learned they were just on their way to get dinner when they saw something happening and stepped in.
Everything shifted when they arrived. John went through my bag again and I asked him if my cash was still in there. He told me it was gone. I said “I don’t want the cash, but can you please ask them to give the money clip back?”. One of the blue shirts came up to me and shoved a wad of cash in my face saying “this is my cash. See, look!! This isn’t yours” I was like…okay…??
John and Jane took me away to go to evictions. My trippy ass thought this was all normal happenings from security. I told them I was on shrooms but I wasn’t super fucked up, I was just shaken and scared. Jane asked me why I was covered in grass. I told her they kept throwing me on the ground and winding up to hit me. She was shocked and told me I needed to tell her everything they did. And I did. I told her I tried to take a video but I think they may have deleted it. John and Jane gave me all my stuff back and told me we’d be going to talk to even more higher ups to submit complaints.
They asked me to show them the video but when I unlocked my phone, I was already opened to my recently deleted folder. Security had deleted the video. Jane saw this all happen as I unlocked my phone.
I told Jane I was scared because security said I was violent and it’s just their word vs mine. She told me an investigation was immediately launched and there are actually cameras everywhere. I wanted to cry I was so relieved.
I truly believe Jane and John saved me from being seriously hurt.
My friends went back into the festival to get food and the entire security team that was involved was gone. I did not ever get my stolen belongings back.
Goldenvoice let me stay the night in camping still. The security high ups and Goldenvoice treated me with the utmost kindness and respect. Jane and John took amazing care of me.
Ultimately, this is all my fault. I take responsibility for being an utter dipshit. I just want to share this story, do with this information what you will. Don’t fuck around like me. Don’t argue with security. Be careful.
I am trying to write this while it is still relatively fresh. I’m sure I’m forgetting some details. I’m still very shook and on edge.

- The Child Who Doesn't Exist
- Sea Breeze Rendezvous
- Childe was unconscious for quite a while after the fight in the Primordial Sea. When he realized he was being taken back to Snezhnaya, he mustered up all his strength and made the journey back to Fontaine on his own. He still has unfinished business in Fontaine.
- "Project Stuzha": "Father" says the project is something The Rooster and Regrator have been working on together. It has to do with the Fatui's strategic plan for the future. Because the House of the Hearth was so successful in obtaining the Gnosis, they now have the honor of playing a key role in Project Stuzha. To them, the whole thing is an inconvenience. "Father" thinks so too, but she's in no position to refuse. The plan isn't exactly unreasonable, and they've been funneling the House a lot of funding. The House will lose a lot of members in the process. Participating in the plan is an honor in name only. What they're really trying to do is subdue the House of the Heath [Per Lyney]. The existence of an intelligence organization outside their control makes them feel uneasy.
- Birds in a Cage
- Lyney: When "Father" first became a Harbinger, The Doctor offered to work with the House of the Hearth. "Father" rejected most of his proposals, except for one. It had to do with some sort of secret experiment. I don't know any details about the experiment itself, but I do know it's an entirely independent operation. The Doctor only proposed a direction for the research. That was the extent of his involvement. The House of the Hearth has its own principles. There are certain lines we're not willing to cross.
- Neuvillette's thoughts about The Knave: I believe I've told you before that my emotions easily resonate with those of others. Yet, in the few meetings I've had with that Harbinger, I haven't been able to sense any aspect of her emotional state. Her mind is like a still body of water — who knows what darkness lies in its depths, and the lack of ripples on the surface gives nothing away. It's unclear whether this is her natural state of being, or whether it's an incredible strength of will that gives her the ability to master her emotions. Either scenario, however, suggests she is a very dangerous individual.
- Into the Sunlight
- Crucabena was Clervie's mother by blood. Despite being Clervie's mother, Crucabena cared little for her daughter. She forced Clervie to join the House of the Hearth only as a means to demonstrate her own impartiality as a "Mother" — to prove that she treated all her children equally. Clervie was six years old when she was brought by her mother to live in the House of the Hearth.
- Crucabena taught the children to fight, forced them to duel each other, and then crowned the victor the "king" of the House after having proved themselves most worthy of inheriting her title. It's difficult to estimate the number of children who died or were maimed in the process. The ones that emerged with permanent injuries, on the other hand would be handed over to The Doctor to be experimented on, or sent away on dangerous missions; nothing more than tools to be used and then discarded.
- Peruere suggested to take down "Mother" herself. Clervie rejected that proposal, claiming that, as a famous Harbinger, Crucabena possessed an unimaginable amount of power. Clervie never gave another reason, but Peruere could see Clervie still thought of Crucabena as her mother, and killing her own flesh and blood was a line she couldn't bring herself to cross. Ultimately, Clervie decided to let Peruere end her life. A mere year later, Peruere killed "Mother" and became a Harbinger, after which the Tsaritsa bestowed upon her a new name, Arlecchino.
- After Crucabena was defeated, the moniker of "Mother" died with her. Arlecchino rebuilt the House of the Hearth under a new identity, not only as Arlecchino, but as "Father."
- A certain power runs through Arlecchinos veins. It's not unlike a curse. Her flames leave behind shadows of anything they consume. The chances of those shadows morphing into a sentient entity are exceedingly slim. Clervie is a very special case.
- Freminet joined the House of the Hearth during the time between Clervie and Crucabena's deaths. The experiments Crucabena valued had already come to an end, and all the people involved — dead and injured alike — were gone. "Father" burned all of Crucabena files. With that, the names of all the people subjected to her experiments — Clervie included — were lost to the flames, along with the painful memories they represented. "Father" took in Lyney and Lynette a couple months after that, but she never mentioned anything about Crucabena or Clervie.
- Young Clervie is an illusion born of flame. Her existence is like ashes to a fire — something leftover in the wake of blaze and ruin. She's a rather volatile and unstable entity. Sometimes, she would look after the children and even saved some of their lives. Other times, she would hide from Arlecchino and become obsessed with revealing the "truth" about the House to anyone who will listen. Shadows don't have the capacity to learn or grow. Any new information they encounter is quickly forgotten over time. The reason she cant be exposed to sunlight is because in her mind, the House is impossible to escape, and it is this very perception that traps her there.

- Naphis admitted that the Temple of Silence in the Akademiya is just a facade. The true Temple of Silence once came to the rainforest to establish a collaboration with the Akademiya, but as time went by, the sages gradually became corrupt and foolish. The Temple of Silence felt that they could no longer trust the Akademiya, and ended the partnership. They retreated back to the desert about four hundred years ago. Ever since its inception, the Temple of Silence has been the guardians of King Deshret's civilization and belief system. They traveled throughout Sumeru, sequestering and guarding any wisdom that posed a threat to the people's livelihoods. At its roots, it was a legitimate and reputable organization whose purpose was to guide people towards the right path. The Akademiya of the day knew that the split would damage their reputation if it became a matter of public knowledge. And so, they set up a dummy organization of their own to conceal the truth.

- Ba Fragments are shards of Hermanubis. Legend has it that when Hermanubis first arrived in Tulaytullah, he sparred with the city's residents. He and his two companions proved their mettle by fighting over several days, winning the support of many fine people. That group of supporters were some of the first members of the Temple of Silence, and the sparring matches were enshrined as one of their founding rites. The Rite of Duels.
- The Dead Past is the Living Present:
- Tighnarians are descendants of the Valuka Shuna. The story goes that King Deshret chose the sage Hermanubis from among the Tighnarians, and appointed him as his familiar. He went on to fight many valiant battles with his Tighnarian companions. They always stood by each other, from the founding of the Temple of Silence to the fall of Tulaytullah. The Tighnarians who left Tulaytullah joined their human counterparts in the rainforest. A few centuries later, when some of the group returned to the desert, many of the Tighnarians chose to stay, and put down roots in the rainforest.

Surpassing one's teacher often requires the pursuit of the unexpected.

- The Crimson Moon Dynasty had an orphanage. Arlecchino's curse is hereditary and causes a "corrosion" to her body. Arlecchino believes she would undergo a "change" if she lets it get to her heart. When she uses her power it creates "afterimages," which can present as fragments of memory or don the aspect of dazzling colors. Most of her dreams are filled with a crimson moon and barren wilds.
- More About Arlecchino: V: When I was young, "Mother" favored me due to the unusual set of abilities I possess. No one was able to discern their true nature, not even me. We could only speculate that they were the result of some sort of hereditary curse. Whatever the origin of my power, all I knew was that it was the source of my strength, and often the impetus for my suffering. It was only after I became a Harbinger that I finally learned the truth from The Jester. He expressed surprise that the Crimson Moon bloodline had not gone extinct, and that, in a strange twist of fate, the House of the Hearth had ended up in the hands of an orphan of that lineage once again.
- Character Story 3: To hide her origins and consign the truth to the flames, Arlecchino has always proclaimed herself a Fontainian. The truth is, however, that she discovered an ability to wield a strange fire from a young age. This attracted much curiosity, as no one in her "family" knew of such power. But at her young age, this seemed like no ability to be boasted of so much as a deep-rooted curse. Each time she let her vigilance wane, this power would run rampant, eating away at her body. First her fingers, then her palms, and then her forearms. The blackened marks were akin to those of burned charcoal, just as she seemed akin to burning firewood. Here she had a vague foreboding, that if this dark shadow were to creep up her shoulder, and snake from shoulder to heart, she would likely undergo some sort of "change." Perhaps that would be the moment fate tipped its hand to her.
- Character Story 4: Even without the corrosion, this flame brought her other troubles. Those rendered ash by these fires would leave "afterimages." At times, they were fragments of memory, and at others, they donned the aspect of dazzling colors. As those who fell at her hand increased, Arlecchino began to hear various voices. Screams, wails, and hurled recriminations would wake her from dreams, and she soon grew used to this. She had few dreams worth remembering fondly, in any case, filled as most were with crimson moon and barren wilds. In cases few and far between, these afterimages would be complete enough to take on the form of a "conscious individual." Of course, these were hardly as special as "Clervie's shadow," but they would still appear by Arlecchino's side, driving the clamor away and buying her a moment's respite.

The circumstances depicted are specious, but the key details are accurate."

- About The Jester: As the original Harbinger, much about him remains a mystery. Upon our first meeting, he recognized my background with ease, yet to this day, I know little about him.
- About The Captain: He is very powerful, and that power comes with a high level of responsibility. However, I believe him to be someone worthy of respect independent of the power he holds.
- About The Doctor: When I first took over the House of the Hearth, he proposed a number of plans for us to work together. He wanted me to send any "rejects" to him. He planned to experiment on them and then share the results with me. I heard that he and the previous Knave had quite the professional rapport in that regard. All I can say is that, if he weren't one of my fellow Harbingers, I would have expedited their happy, little reunion long ago.
- About Damselette: She is a very special Harbinger. Pose her a question, and the answer you receive will be entirely unpredictable, if she sees fit to give a proper answer at all. Regardless, any answer you do receive is sure to be an interesting one.
- About The Rooster: The Rooster holds little love for me, and the feeling is mutual. He is an acceptable mayor, I suppose... perhaps even an exceptional one. He has an uncanny ability to make great gains at a small price, which has earned him substantial acclaim throughout his political circles. However "small" the price may be, if it continues to come at the expense of my organization, sooner or later... Hmph.
- About Marionette: I have little interest in her. She is extremely... passionate about her research and does not appear in public often. In fact, many of our officers have yet to see her at all. Compared to, let's say, someone who would go so far as to create segments of themselves to better wander across the land, I suppose you could say she is at the other end of the extreme.
- About Regrator: I won't deny that he is a capable and imaginative individual, but he lacks "clarity." He can formulate grand plans and manipulate the economy with ease, yet at the same time, he allows his actions to be governed by the vengeance and hatred locked in the depths of his heart. Rational people often believe themselves capable of controlling their emotions, but I believe that confidence is their greatest weakness.
- About The Fair Lady: She and Pierro were the first Harbingers I became acquainted with. Her prideful attitude when she first visited the House of the Hearth failed to earn her many friends among the children. Subsequent visits were accompanied by gifts and the stately claim that "those who dislike me shall receive none." The children quickly learned how to play pretend, and she in turn basked in their attention, superficial though it may have been. I imagine she quite enjoyed being surrounded by children, perhaps due to the persistent loneliness that plagued her... I found her sacrifice to be a great shame. May she be reunited with her lover in death.
- About Childe: Objectively speaking, his personality is ill-suited to that of a Harbinger. He often tries to think the best of others... and finds himself used by them as a result. Of course, he is very talented. With time, I'm sure he'll come into his own. I see no need to judge him too early.

Does pure relationally make sense?
Currently taking a course in trying to understand concepts which would be beyond a metaphysical god. Just read the paper "The Relational Ontology of Anaximander and Heraclitus." by James Filler
In Section II, the Ontological Primacy of Pure Relationally is established as follows:

To designate any ontology as relational is to claim that relation is ontologically foundational and primordial to all being. This runs counter to the Aristotelian understanding of relation as πρός τι (toward some thing), that is, as grounded upon determinate relata, which has so dominated our understanding. 5 It is necessary, therefore, prior to examining the relationality constitutive of the first principle for both Anaximander and Heraclitus, to justify this account of relation as ontologically prior to any determinate being. Further reflection upon the nature of relation will help make this priority clear.
If we understand relation as primarily grounded in determinate relata, that is, independently existing substances, then the notion of relationship itself becomes difficult. Where does the relation reside? It cannot reside in either entity independent of the other or else the other becomes an unnecessary participant in the relation. If that which gives rise to the relationship, whatever the relationship might be, resides in one particular entity, then no other entities are necessary for the relationship. 6 If the relationship arises from the combination of the two entities but does not exist independently of the entities, then something must be added to the entities which does not exist in either entity by itself, as follows from what was just stated. 7 These considerations do not, however, necessarily refute the understanding of relation as grounded in relata. It merely establishes that relation, qua relation, must exist independently of the relata.8
To establish the ontological primacy of relation, prior to its relata, one must go further. One must recognize that without relation as a third thing between two entities, neither entity can exist. Some relation is necessary for there to be entities at all. This is not a new problem. It is simply a restatement of the classic one–many problem, and it is a problem Plato recognizes in both the Sophist and Parmenides when he concludes that being can be neither one nor many.
In the Sophist, Plato notes, “[M]illions of other issues will also arise, each generating indefinitely many confusions, if you say that being is only two or one.” 9 He then shows that if being is two (many), then they both must be, and so being is the same in both, that is, it is one. 10 But later, he shows that if being is one, several problems arise leading to multiplicity, such as if being is one, then it is called both “being” and “one,” but how can it have two names if it is one? Is the name the same as being? If so, then the name is either nothing or the name of itself, and so turns out to be the name of a name and “nothing else.” If the name is not the same as being, then being has parts, but that which is “truly one” cannot have parts (that which has parts is already many). 11 Plato reaches the same conclusion in the Parmenides. Whatever else we may claim about the one and the many, neither can exist by itself without the other; thus, the hypotheses of the Parmenides ultimately show that being can be neither one nor many. 12 It might be tempting to conclude that this leaves us in a state of irremediable confusion, 13 but there is something important here. The one cannot exist without the many and the many cannot be without the one. This entails that entities existing independently in themselves cannot be. One by itself cannot exist. But neither can two, since two are simply two independently existing unrelated entities. Unless there is a relation between the two, which as has been shown must be a third element that does not arise from either of the two entities in themselves, two independently existing entities are no different from a single independently existing entity, since nothing unifies them as something which can collectively be called “two.” And so just as one cannot be many, neither can two. So true multiplicity arises only in the relation between two things, and thus, it is ultimately the case that to exist independently is to not exist at all. But does this follow? It still seems unclear precisely why the one cannot exist without the many.
To exist independently requires a thing to be determinate, to be a particular thing, to be other than something. But if there is no other, there can be no determination. This is essentially what both the passages from the Sophist and the hypotheses of the Parmenides show: Both unity and the others are necessary for either to be. Since to be one is to be other than the many (it makes little sense to describe something as one if there is no multiplicity against which it is defined as such), to be one is to be determinate. 14 And since the many, to be many, must be different from each other (and the one), the many are determinate as well. Both one and many must, therefore, be determinate. And since the determinateness of each arises in contrast to the other apart, both the one and many must exist together and cannot exist without the other. The one and many can exist only in relation to each other. Since we have seen that relation cannot arise from either of the relata individually (the one or many in this case) but must be a third thing, the determinate existence of both one and many depends on this relation. Thus, independent unrelated being cannot be, and so to exist independently is to not exist. This entails that the fundamental ontological ground of entities understood as determinate beings must be pure relation, that is, a relation independent of its relata. What follows from this is that just as true multiplicity arises only in relation, so also true unity arises only in relation. It should go without saying that the being of relation, independent of its relata, that is, pure relation as the ground of being, cannot itself be determinate. It must be indeterminate and indefinite, otherwise it contradicts itself by requiring a further relationality to ground its determinateness. 15 It further follows from this that a pure ontologically primordial indefiniteness must be relation, since the purely indefinite cannot be other than any thing. My criticism..
Is the pure relationality to the relata (one and many) immediate?
- If immediate, then they are actual together, so relationally as such is neither pure or primary.
- If not immediate, then the mediation is with pure relation, and hence pure relationally is neither pure nor primary.
My understanding is that Filler would argue, as does Plato in the Timaeus that it's impossible to combine two things by themselves and there needs to be a third. Can we posit that pure relationally immediately gives rise to temporality, but would that not entail that temporality is ontologically primary? What is such a temporality?

I (F19) can't meet my boyfriend's (M21) needs. What do I do?
For context, me and my boyfriend have been together for a little over a year. I am a college student with a very busy schedule and no car. I live about a thirty minute drive from my boyfriend, he is not a student and is far less busy and has a car (albeit an older/unreliable one). I work part time at school but it barely covers my tuition payments and basic needs.
These past few months of the relationship have been hard for us. My boyfriend's main love language is time together and for him, it is really difficult if we have to go more than 4-5 days without seeing each-other. Sometimes, my schedule doesn't allow for this, and I hate it too, but there's really no working around it. To add to this, because of the car thing he is always the one coming to me or picking me up, and he is growing a lot of resentment because of it. He doesn't like having to drive his older car so far so often, and I get that. He wastes a lot of miles and gas dollars on me. If I ever have the spare money I will Uber to his house, but that doesn't happen often.
Needless to say, he has been expressing his resentment because of this and its caused a lot of issues/fights in our relationship. He tells me that being together frequently is a big need of his and it really frustrates him when those needs cant be met. I try my hardest to make as much time for him as I can, but I cant always afford to buy an Uber all the time, and I'm immensely busy due to school.
So my ultimate question is, what do I do to make it better? I try to make up for this disparity in other ways but ultimately it is unfair and I don't think this situation will change anytime soon, at least not while I'm in school. We both love each other very much and don't want to end the relationship over this, but I'm not sure how to make it work.
TLDR: I can't see my boyfriend as much as I would like and it's building resentment between us. What do I do to make things easier/better?

Checking Some Localization - Cold Steel III: Chapter 2 (2/2)

- 63 「The full-scale inspection should be starting today.」/「本格的な視察は明日かららしいぞ。」
The localization actually mistranslated "tomorrow"/"明日".
- 64 「The Imperial Army and the RMP are working in conjunction to maintain security.」/「帝国軍やＴＭＰとも連携して警備に当たってる所だ。」
Originally, this line was meant to be: "We (from the Military Police) are working in conjunction with the Imperia army and RMP to maintain security."
- 65 「My name is Xin. I'm the representative of the Heiyue Trading Company's Crossbell branch.」/「ボクはシン。《黒月ヘイユエ貿易公司》クロスベル支店の臨時代表を務める者だ。」
Originally, Xin calls himself a "provisional representative"/"臨時代表."
- 66 「True members of Heiyue don't make promises we don't intend to keep. Lau, show them.」/「《黒月(ヘイユエ)》後継者候補に二言はない。 ラウ、開けてやるがいい。」
Xin doesn't generalise this to "members of Heiyue", rather he speaks of his position as "successor candidate"/"後継者候補".
- 67 「I convinced Reins to let me cover the inspection team.」/「センパイを説得して視察団の取材担当にしてもらったの。」
Vivi's "センパイ" is not supposed to be Reins. It's her seniors in the Imperial Chronicle in Heimdallr. It was even correctly localized here: 「I was only late because it took so long to win over the bigwigs at HQ!」 /「だってぇ、本社のセンパイたちを出し抜くので大変だったんですから～！」. Chapter 1 also had the same problem: 「Thing is, I kinda didn't tell Reins that I was coming back here, so I dunno if he'll be thrilled with the angle I'm taking.」 /「先輩には黙って来ちゃったから掲載してもらえるかは微妙なトコだけど。」, with using "先輩."
- 68 「Since the incident with the Crossbell Times, it's just been a buying frenzy.」/「どうやら《タイムズ》の一件を皮切りに“買い漁り”に来とるようじゃな。」
The localization misinterpreted what was being referred to here. It is meant to be about the Times Department Store, not the newspaper; it's the one that's addressed by "Times"/"《タイムズ》" that has actually been bought off.
- 69 「Randy said there was a cryptid nearby that looked like some kind of carnivorous plant thing.」/「ランディ先輩たちが戦った、食虫植物みたいな幻獣か……」
This should be better worded to: "Randy and Tio said they fought a cryptid nearby that looked like some kind of carnivorous plant thing."
- 70 「As it happens, I've had my hands so full with someone I'm coaching that I haven't been able to give the horses their due exercise.」/「実の所、ワンダー君に掛かりきりで ろくに散歩もさせてやれていないんだ。」
The localization wrote the line much more awkwardly, considering that the one Albert speaks of is right beside his and he just uses his name "Wonder"/"ワンダー君."
- 71 「Going left should take us to a rural village. Right, Juna?」/「ああ、たしか左手の道は北上すると農村があるんだよな？」
The localization omits the extra mention of "Going left, to the north"/"左手の道は北上すると."
- 72 「Are you headed out?」/「ルーグマンさんはこれからお出かけですか？」
The localization removes Kenneth addressing "Mr. Lughmann"/"ルーグマンさん."
- 73 「Ahaha, 'Ashen Chevalier'? More like 'Ash-haired Chevali-Ogre'!」/「アハハ、灰色の騎士ならぬ“灰色の鬼”ってところかな！？」
The localization makes this so much more awkward and lame when it puts it so unnecessarily over the top instead of just being "Ashen Ogre."
- 74 「Is this cat talking...and using arts?!」/「ね、猫が喋った……！？」
Kurt only said the first part, originally.
- 75 「And we've still got some challenges up ahead.」/「はは……まだまだ課題も多いけどな。」 「Elliot has his share, too.」/「そういえばサザーラントでのエリオットたちと同じく……」 「Speaking of our old classmates, you've been talking to Alisa and Machias recently, right?」/「やっぱりアリサやマキアスと示し合わせていたんだろう？」
So, this part of the conversation starts when Celine talks about the New Class VII being "right on par" with the Old Class VII. Kurt and Juna react in doubt, saying that they are "still very green." Rean interjects, with the first line, to say that even the Old Class VII "still got some challenges." However, that should be the end of that topic. Much to the contrary, the localization took the fact that the second line was "By the way, just like Elliot and the others in Sutherland..." and tied it to that first, when it should be to the third. Thus, "just like Elliot, Laura, and Fie, in Sutherland..." => "You've been speaking to Alisa and Machias, right?"
- 76 「Those are railway cannons.」/「“新型列車砲”……存在だけは聞いていましたが。」 「Their size and design aren't the same as the ones we saw at the fortress, so they must be a newer model.」/ 「……サイズやデザインも違うし、その“後継機”といった所か。」
The localization omits that Altina calls the new armaments "new model railway cannons"/"新型列車砲". Perhaps because they already had Rean use "newer model" as a translation for "後継機". Still somewhat strange, given that they localized both fine without needing to fully omit one of them, with Irina later: 「Dragunov-class railway guns are the newest model.」/「ドラグノフ級、新型列車砲」and 「They're the official successor to the ones installed at Garrelia Fortress.」 /「かつてガレリア要塞に配備されていた列車砲の正式な後継機になるわ。」
- 77 「Many influential individuals have gathered here at Orchis Tower tonight.」/「──先ほどから続々とクロスベル州の有力者たちがタワーへと集まってきています。」
The localization removes the specification that "influential individuals are "from the Crossbell Province"/"クロスベル州の有力者たち."
- 78 「I was able to set up a small window of time during the dinner party to speak with some of the guests.」/「晩餐会までの僅かな時間だがゲストと話せる機会を作った。」
The localization straight up mistranslated "until the dinner party"/"晩餐会まで" for "during."
- 79 「I was tasked by the Imperial Army to make them, so I did. That's all.」/「あくまで帝国政府と正規軍の発注に応える最適なものを造った──それだけのこと。」
The localization omits the inclusion of the "Imperial Government"/"帝国政府" with the Imperial Army as the ones who made the request.
- 80 「That's a little too disrespectful. And this is me talking.」/「……流石に不敬かと。」
The localization inserted this Altina self-aware joke.
- 81 「Recently, Cedric's begun to look up to him...」/「最近、セドリックが随分、懇意にしているみたいで……」
The localizations changed Cedric "growing more familiar" with Osborne to "looking up," something he already did in CS: "find myself admiring Chancellor Osborne."
- 82 「She's a classmate of mine.」/「その、わたしと同じ科でルームメイトなんですけど……」
The localization removes the detail of saying that Musse is Tita's "roommate"/"同じ科でルームメイト."
- 83 「Tch. Of course the elevators are out of order.」/「ちっ、エレベーターは当然 監視対象ってわけか……」
Originally, Ash complained about the elevator being "under surveillance"/"監視対象," not broken or turned off.
- 84 「Yes, that is the full extent of my misdeeds.」/「ええ……所詮、わたくしはその程度の存在。」 「So long as the Reinford family is not at risk, I will not try to stop the wrongdoings of my prior colleagues.」/「ラインフォルト家に害がなければ 古巣の悪事を手伝うような外道です。」
Sharon's first line isn't somewhat excusatory, like in the localization. She has a more somber statement about herself and why she did what she did during the Gospel Plan, which is: "Yes... Ultimately, that is all that I am. Even her second line is harsher, complimenting the idea of the previous one: "A monster that would collaborate with my prior colleagues wrongdoings, so long as the Reinford family is not at risk."
- 85 「Far as I can sense, you got some pretty interesting power in you, considering you're just some royal.」/「ただの皇族のクセに 妙な魔力を感じるじゃねえか？」
The localization omits the specification: "magical power"/"魔力".
- 86 「Yes. We chat on occasion when we both have some free time.」/「フフ、まあ落ち着いた時にでも話をさせてもらうとしよう。」
Valimar actually says that he wants to talk to Celine when things (in Crossbell) settle down. They haven't seen each other in one year, and Celine remarks that it is going to be easier to converse now that he has improved his speech. It's not meant to come across as an ongoing common interaction, like in the localization.
- 87 「And on top of that, there was what McBurn said...」/「そして、あの火焔魔人の言葉……」
Just like Duvalie, in Chapter 1, Rean shouldn't be on a first name basis when he addresses Mcburn; instead, he should say "Blazing Demon"/"火焔魔人." This just makes the interactions too familiar and lessens the characters or moments that actually address him as such.
- 88 「The underground district that was used to develop the orbal science of alchemy...」/「かつて錬金術を発展させた魔導科学に利用された地下区画……」
The localization contradicts the lore. The alchemists used "magical science"/"魔導科学".
- 89 「There are framed photos on the desk.」/「机に写真立てらしきものが放置されている。」
It's possible to see in the scene that it is supposed to be a framed photo.
- 90 「I heard that some trains will be restricted...」/「車両もタイミングによっては交通規制が入るとか……」 「This is a major issue for shipping companies. I need to hurry before they start restricting the trains.」/「運送会社にとっては大問題だよ。 ったく、本格的な規制が始まる前に急がねえと！」
Billy works with a truck shipping company. He, originally, speaks about "traffic regulations"/"交通規制" affecting his work; logically, it'd be about cars and trucks. There is no mention of trains.
- 91 「We've been together for a year now, but even I have to admit, she can be a little...silly.」/「付き合って１年半になるけどいつも陽気でおっちょこちょいで。」 「Janetta and I have been together for a year now.」/「ジャネッタと付き合い始めてもう１年半なんだよね。」
The localization, incorrectly, says they've been together for "a year," which would be after Trails to Azure. However, they got together during the game, as the original states "a year and a half"/"１年半."
- 92「I'm nervous. I hope she likes the new factory.」/「緊張すんなぁ。新工場建設、今さらダメ出しされたりしねーよな？」
The localization makes it sound ambiguous if the Military factory has already been built, when the original is about worrying that Irina "might cancel the construction of the new factory." In another line: 「Once the RF Company's factory is completed, there'll be several thousand new jobs.」 /「ＲＦ社の新工場が完成すれば数千人規模の雇用が生まれるそうだ。」
- 93 「Their two daughters continue to work hard even after their parents were sworn into the military police.」/「“軍警”になってからも２人の娘さんたちは 頑張っているみたいで。」
The localization misunderstood the subject "Even after the two sisters joined the military'/"軍警になってから２人の娘さんたち," which are Noel and Fran.
- 94 「You just ate dinner not too long ago...」/「さっき朝食を済ませたばかりだろう……」 「It's dinner time! Yup yup!」/「やっとメシっす。」
The localization mistranslated "breakfast"/"朝食" and misunderstood the context of when this happens, since it's far from dinnertime. The second line doesn't have a specific meal, but it was written with an incorrect context, like the first (and even contradicts it).
- 95 「I'm almost certain she started her rehabilitation today.」/「たしか今日から新しいリハビリって言ってたわね……」
The original says "started a new rehabilitation course"/"新しいリハビリ." Illya didn't start rehabilitating altogether until more than a year after Azure.
- 96 「They say he was one of the culprits behind the Crossbell plan, but wasn't affiliated with Ouroboros.」/「……結社とは別にクロスベル独立国の絵を描いた黒幕(フィクサー)の一人だったらしい。」
The localization chose a strange way to word this. "behind the Crossbell plan" instead of "behind Crossbells independence"/"クロスベル独立国."
- 97 「I heard from Fie. About your power..」/「フィーたちから聞いたわ。《神気合一》のこと。」
The localization singles out Fie when "フィーたち" is plural, including Laura and Elliot. "Spirit Unification"/"《神気合一》" is also omitted for "power."
- 98 「I can't believe she went and made such things. She knows how Grandfather and I felt about the first models.」/「……私やお祖父様の反対も押しのけて、あんなものを完成させてしまうなんて。」
The original illustrates that Alisa and Gwyn attempted to object to the new railway cannons, not mentioning anything about the first models. The localization somewhat paints it as being based on past objections.
- 99 「That can't be a mirage spell...right?」/「げ、幻術……ではないんですよね？」
Emma says "illusion"/"幻術," nothing to do with orbal arts. She's speaking from a witch's perspective.
- 100 「This one's different from the one I saw yesterday!」/「昨日現れたのとは違う──見たこともないタイプだわ！」
The original also has the extra detail of being "a type never seen before (in CSII)."
- 101 「B-But the royal family is--」/「で、ですが、皇族の方が……！」 「Ah, but it is BECAUSE I am a member of the royal family that I must do this.」/「いや──今回ばかりは“皇族だから”こそさ。」 「To be seen off by the royal family is truly more than we deserve...」/「このような場所でのお見送りさすがに畏れ多いかと……」
It should be "imperial family."
- 102 「Most people fled the city, hoping they'd be away from the fighting in rural towns or remote mining villages.」/「市街から、周辺にある農村や鉱山町に疎開する市民も多かった。」
The localization poorly words this line into being strangely inespecific of Crossbell's locations. It should be "the farming village" and "the mining town," which is how Armorica and Mainz are often referred to and are singular.
- 103 「Right ye are! Let's follow the chairman!」/「それやそれ！その方針で行こうや、会長さん！」
Becky is speaking to Chairman Mors. Originally, it's meant to be "Let's follow that plan, chairman!"
- 104 「But even so...considering that it's in Erebonia...」/「あいつらの事もあるし、帝国本土となると少し考えちまうが……」
The localization omits Oscar mentioning "the matter with everyone/them"/"あいつらの事もあるし" as another reason why he is hesitant to go train in the empire.
- 105 「Hm... Well, perhaps she could join my harem...」/「ふむ、逆ハーレムか……ボクとしてはそれもアリなんだが……」
The actual joke of Olivier's response to Nana's question, 「Is he another one of Juna's potential boyfriends?!」 /「おねえちゃんのカレシ候補がふえたのー！」, is completely lost in the localization. The original is: "Hmm, a reverse harem... I'd also find that arrangement acceptable..."
- 106 「Will she ever be able to act again?」/「前みたいに舞台に立てるのはいつになるか……」
The localization chooses to translate what could be more general phrasing as "perform/stand on stage"/"舞台に立てる," to be more specific to what Illya is known for... and, somehow, it was decided on "act" instead of the much more fitting "dance" (she's literally the Fervent Dancer).
- 107 「Also, the way you carefully avoided telling us where you're going for your inspections was impressive as always.」/「──どんな視察かはともかくとして。」
The localization turned Alisa's much more passive inquiry at Irina, "Wherever you'll be inspecting," to make it much more, unnecessarily, accusatory. Irina doesn't have any obligation to share that information, so she wasn't "avoiding" anything.
- 108 「(Who does he mean?)」/「（支援課……いったいどういう人？）」
The localization mistranslates this line entirely. Alisa sounds as if she actually has no clue who the "support section"/"支援課", mentioned by Abel is: 「We can't make contact... If only the support section were here.」 /「通信も繋がらないし……こんな時に支援課がいてくれたら。」. The original, only has her question about who the "Middle-Aged Man"/"中年男性" was. Especially given that, if the intention is as localized, it's very strange that Alisa would immediately refer to "支援課" as being a "person"/"人."
- 109 「He's the only director who previously held a high position within the police. He's the most reliable person we have.」/「本部長は“警察”出身としては唯一上層部に抜擢された人でね。僕らにとっては一番信頼できる人さ。」
It's not about Director Douglas having held "a high position within the police," it is about being "the only director (Crossbell Military Police) that was a member of the police (Crossbell Police Department), in general."
- 110 「Kate has been running around since early this morning. I'm sure she's...」/「ケイト先輩も朝から走り回っているしあいつだってきっと……」
The localization missed the fact that Officer Franz also makes a reference to Lloyd here, with "I'm sure even he's..."/"あいつだってきっと……" He has previously referred to Lloyd the same way before: 「(If only he were here right now...)」/「（こんな時、“あいつ”がいてくれたらな……）」.
- 111 「Director Douglas is directly in charge of the inspection team's schedule.」/「視察団の警備体制はダグラス本部長が直々に指揮を取っているんだ。」
I'm genuinely not sure how much being in charge of "schedule" has the same meaning as being in charge of "security"/"警備体制," as the localization puts it.
- 112 「I talked to Jessica, but we decided to leave Juna to Kurt and the others.」/「ゼシカちゃんとも話したんですが、ユウナちゃんのことはクルトさんたちに任せることになりましてー。」 「I guess I'll just have to leave it to Kurt.」/「……とりあえず、このままクルトたちに任せるしかねえか。」
The localization makes Louise and Sidney straight up not acknowledge Altina, even when the group (Kurt and Altina) is in the original, with: "クルトさんたち."
- 113 「...Very well. Thank you for your assistance, Prince Olivier.」/「……どうか宜しくお願いします、オリビエ殿。」 「(He couldn't help adding the 'prince' part, huh?)」/「（それでも、あくまで“殿”呼びなんだな。）」
This particular choice for this line just makes Michael come across as much more silly than in the original. Olivert asks him not to call him "Your Highness"/"殿下," so instead of that he uses "殿" (probably a play on the kanji, 殿~下~). Personally, it'd be an improvement if "Lord" or "Sir" were used. Of course, the play on the kanji can't be fully replicated in english, but the royal treatment => high-respect formal treatment (with the nuance that it can be used for non-royals) shouldn't be translated to royal treatment => unequivocally still royal treatment.
- 114 「I believe last we met was on the Courageous after the civil war. It is a pleasure to see you again, Valimar.」/「君と会うのは内戦時のカレイジャス以来か。久しぶりだね、ヴァリマール君。」
Originally, it's supposed to be "during the Civil War"/"内戦時."
- 115 「Oh. Well aren't you a cute little thing?」/「ほう、君はまた随分可愛らしい男の子だね。」 「Umm, Olivier... You know he's a boy, right?」/「……その、オリビエさん。まさか、そういう趣味があるわけじゃないですよね。」
The localization made Olivier use neutral wording when interacting with Kairi, when originally he outright referred to him as a "cute boy"/"可愛らしい男の子." Since this isn't ambiguous, Rean doesn't point out Kairi's gender; instead, he's surprised that Olivier has "that kind of interest"/"そういう趣味."
- 116 「(It might be good for healing spells, but...)」/「（ま、魔力の回復には役立ちそうですが……）」
The original is "recovering magic energy/power"/"魔力の回復." The localization somewhat inverted the meaning for "recovering/healing magic" => magic for recovery/healing."
- 117 「This is the tower.」/「これが塔の内部……」
It would've been phrased better as "So, this is what it/the tower looks like inside..." Instead of being a line, he could've said outside, and there would be no way to tell.
- 118 「But what's that weird light flickering at the top?」/「な、なんだか不思議な光が漂っているんだが……」
It's supposed to be "floating"/"漂っている." How was it translated to "flickering at the top" even?
- 119「They could be. With all their behind-the-scenes corruption, they'd need an archive for their wickedness somewhere.」/「ああ、錬金術師たちに操られて非道を繰り返したっていう……」
This localization is so poor, given that the line in question is: "They could be. Their wicked acts were puppeteered by the alchemists behind-the-scenes." Alisa's logic is about considering that if the Alchemists built Stargaze's Tower, wrote the old tomes within, and manipulated the cult, then the old tomes could have some relation to the cult. The cult shouldn't be the subject of "archiving their wickedness" and "behind-the-scenes corruption."
- 120 「It might seem strange to see Erebonians come here to stop you...」/「帝国人である私たちが出しゃばるのも心苦しいけど……」
Alisa isn't referring to how Campanella, Mcburn, or a third party might feel; originally, she stated how she feels that "it's painful to be so presumptuous as to be the ones here to stop you, as Erebonians...". At the very least, it wouldn't be "It might seem strange (for you) to see," but rather, "I feel strange about it."
- 121 「All this while he's supposed to be leading the inspection team, no less...」/「それも視察団の行事の真っ最中だものね……」
Olivert isn't "leading the inspection team." Carl and Irina were doing their own thing. Alisa only says something akin to "during the inspection team's survey"/"視察団の行事の真っ最中だも."
- 122 「Since I've shown myself, don't you think it's only polite to step out of the shadows, too?」/「“魔女”が姿を現したのならそちらも出るのが筋じゃないかしら？」
The localization removes the play Vita makes with "Since the witch has shown herself..."/“魔女が姿を現したのなら...", given the group's relationship with the Gnomes in Azure Siegfried.
- 123 「There are a lot of things I want to ask her about...those railway cannons for example.」/「列車砲に巨大軍需工場……問い質したいことも多いから。」
The localization didn't include "Military Factory"/"列車砲."
- 124 「(Vita... She may have been our enemy, and a terrifying one at that, but she ended up helping all of us in Class VII.)」/「（クロチルダさんか……敵だったし、怖い人だったけど最後はⅦ組俺たちに協力してくれた。）」 「Oh, so that's what Vita was talking about.」/「そ、それって確か、クロチルダさんが言っていた──」 「(Could it be...Misty?!)」/「（まさか……クロチルダさんか！？）」 「(What in the world are you doing, Vita?!)」/「（何をやってるんだ、この人は(クロチルダ)さん……！？）」 「That's true. This doesn't only change the impression of these character dynamics but also, more impactfully, lessens the fact that only specific characters should call her by her first name (Emma and Celine, as of Chapter 2). Especially when the former already largely loses the use of "sister"/"姉さん.")

In the case of Tio, the localization keeps making characters that call her "Chief Tio"/"ティオ主任" have sudden moments in which they only call her Tio. Alisa has a particular case in which she only refers to her as "Chief," in the last line.

The localization of the Imperial Chronicle, issue 2 (Chapter 1) simply mistranlates "Prince and his wife"/"大公夫妻" as only being the prince's wife when "夫妻" it's a term for the "married couple." It does soumd very strange that wife is the one doing all of this.

This paragraph, in the Imperial Chronicle, issue 4 (Chapter 2), outright doesn't have a localized version. It is: "However, last year, the RF group took the initiative to implement the system on a large scale in the industrial metropolis of Roer, obtaining favorable reaction to the operations; 'Eventually, we'll be able to introduce the system to Heimdallr and the other provicial cities' (says a CEO of the company)."

Improv 'cheat sheet' - advice needed
Experienced trumpet player but beginner improviser here. Many weeks of practice, and various jazz Youtube channels, and I've significantly improved my understanding of harmony and of the aims of improv.
One thing that's really helped me is making chord tone 'cheat sheets' (see screenshot below). These feature the chord tones and a scale choice that 'fits'. From these I just copy-paste individual rows to assemble cheat sheets for individual songs.
I have a Q about how I should be thinking about modes and scales. I know it's possible to think of a D Dorian scale as either:
- the second mode of the parent C major scale, and therefore just using C major's key sig but starting on a D
- or think of it as a major scale with a flat 3rd and 7th.
- or think of it as D minor scale with a raised 6.
- or think of it in terms of steps and half steps.
With improv you have a split second to make use of a scale before you're onto the next chord, so the process of playing the scale needs to be more muscle memory than conscious thought. And of these 4 ways of thinking about scales, it's only the first one that works for me currently. If I know I'm in a certain key sig, with a certain amount of sharps or flats, I can just run up and down this without thinking too hard (as a result of years and years of playing sheet music in various key sigs). But once I start thinking about alterations of particular scale degrees, that's when I come unstuck and I have to think too hard about it in the moment.
As you can see in the screenshot, I've written my 'cheat sheet' with simply the major scale I'd need to 'think in' to fit the right mode for the chord tone. So for Gmaj7 I'd need to 'think in' D major, beginning on a G. To produce a Lydian scale.
My question is: this may be handy for me in the short term, but in the longer term - if my aim is ultimately not to rely on cheat sheets like this - should I be thinking about modes more like number 2 or 3 on my list? Is that more beneficial? After all, I may be able to work a Dorian mode parent major out pretty easily (the tone below) but it's much harder to do that with a Lydian or Mixolydian scale. Should I alter my cheat sheet?

Do I stand a chance to get accepted by a program?
Hello all, I’m a 29 year old male. I currently have my degree in and have been working in theatre also I have a job customizing ski boots. Recently I’ve been thinking about going back to school and the idea of being a dentist seems like a tough but ultimately fulfilling and worthwhile goal (even considering the time it will take and debt I would take on). On this subreddit I saw that dental schools don’t like seeing you do your pre dental classes at a junior college. Considering my situation and educational background I still need to take pretty much all my science based pre requisites and would need to do these at a local Junior College. Can I still be considered a good candidate for dental school all things considered?

A question about RM E1
I have a question about her E1.
The description says: "While the Ultimate's field is deployed, the DMG dealt by all allies ignores 20% of the target's DEF."
Now, I want to understand this correctly. While pulling for Xueyi E2 back then I did a woopsie and got E1 RM. I was sad at first but seeing how she performed quickly changed my mind. She was buffing like I had 3 Harmony units at once, it was pretty crazy. I always thought that E1 did a 20% resistance shred on the enemy defense while her ult is up but I was wrong. It says that the units atttacking ignore 20% defense, not that she reduces it.
So if I use her with, for example Pela, who reduces def by 42%, RM is taking the new defense star after pela ult and ignore another 20% of the new value.
This is my first post on this forum and I wanted to see if any of you guys could either correct me if I'm wrong or confirm my thought process :D

Apology was good, but the actual actions don't align w/ their words
From an objective perspective, they gave a really good apology. This is what the streaming service should've been the whole time. The only thing better they could've done is to never have done the first video.
But I still feel pretty concerned both for their success, but also with the company direction.
- If their survival was at risk, there should've been more upfront transparency and taken th right steps.
- A lot of people like to compare this to Collegehumor/Dropout. But they were very transparent with fans about their company being sold off and needing to restructure
- As a result, Sam Reich immediately downsized the company and scaled back immensely. They cut costs and (unfortunately) layed off some people.
- Most of them are very independently wealthy as well with expensive lifestyles in LA
- Instead, they've positioned this as a growth plan, with increasing staff and increasing budget and growing new series
- Even billion and trillion dollar tech companies lay people off during hard times, it doesn't make sense to double down if their survival is in jeopardy
- Clearly, they overhired and overinvested. LA is one of the most expensive places to live and operate out of. As an independent company, they need to make tough choices. If they want to grow and hire more, they need to sacrifice things, move to a cheaper area, etc.
- They make extremely successful and advertiser friendly content. They have high engagement as well. Collegehumor/Dropout were making edgy, not-advertiser friendly content, so they had many things going against them. Watcher has everything going for them.
- The damage is done, and I'm concerned if they continue down this road
- With this hitting the mainstream YouTube sphere, potential fans and viewers will definitely be turned off by this, without caring to delve deeper or give them a second chance
- In addition, they are doubling down with their growth plans and continuing to spend exorbitant amounts of money on budgets, sets, and editing that are unnecessary. If they don't cut down on this, they're going to run out of money and implode.
Ultimately, they didn't do this out of pure greed, as much as some people want to paint it out to be. As creatives and artists, they have dreams and ambitions to do more, which is totally valid. I think what happened is they wanted to grow and do more, but they didn't really gauge the temperature for the audience appetite.
I think they should've asked, whether it's through polls or Patreon data, do you all want to see us explore more avenues for content? And how much would you pay for it? If they had slowly rolled it out in this format, it would've been extremely well-received. While it's extremely out of touch to be constantly eating $1000 burgers and sundae on camera and begging your audience for money, Worth It was a popular and entertaining show still. I think they just did a poorly executed growth plan, but aren't actually struggling in the way they claim they are.
