Best (NBA,NFL,NHL,MLB) Sports Bars in the Bay?

San Antonio Sport News - Thu, 04/25/2024 - 17:40

I currently am driving all over the bay trying to find a great sports bar for the environment and as well as the food.

Right now Rookies Sports Lodge in San Jose Takes the title, but I haven’t visited too many to be honest.

I visited O Sullivans a couple times, love how spacious it was. But the food was pretty bad(burnt poppers, cold fries, dead for baseball playoffs).

Willing to go just about anywhere, even the city, that has that “vibe”.

P.S. Bonus points if there are any with an outdoor section with tv’s.

Love events problema mediafusion 3.8.1

San Antonio Sport News - Thu, 04/25/2024 - 16:55

The live events appear but after a few minutes, they disappear and only the always-active ones are displayed. Later, the live events reappear but then vanish again.

Living in downtown San Antonio as a woman

San Antonio Sport News - Wed, 04/24/2024 - 16:07

Hi all. I'm going to be moving to San Antonio temporarily for the summer. Never been to Texas before, so I've got 0 clue what the city is like. From the research I've done a lot of people seem to suggest moving to the north side of the city, but I haven't had any luck finding short term housing that I can afford there. I have finally found a place thats downtown, I think just a few blocks from the river walk(whatever that is lol). I'm running out of time to find housing, so I'm probably going to try and go with it. But my concern is am I going to be safe there, or is it going to be super sketchy, especially as a 21yo woman? It's also street parking, so how likely is it that I should worry about my car being broken into or stolen? Any advice is appreciated, thanks!

This Day in History - April 24th, 1967: The Sixers win the title and the NBA has its first pair of father-son champions

San Antonio Sport News - Wed, 04/24/2024 - 15:12

On April 24th, 1967, the Philadelphia 76ers defeated the San Francisco Warriors in Game 6 of the 1967 NBA Finals. With the championship, Sixers rookie Matt Guokas, Jr. won his first and only ring. His father, Matt Guokas, Sr., also played professionally, first in the American Basketball League (ABL) and, later, in the Basketball Association of America (BAA), which was the League that would eventually become the NBA. And back in 1947, when he was playing in the BAA with the Philadelphia Warriors, they won the BAA Championship.

With the 76ers victory in 1967, the Guokases became the NBA’s first father-son duo with rings. The same feat would later be attained by four other pairs:

  • Rick and Brent Barry
  • Bill and Luke Walton
  • Mychal and Klay Thompson, and
  • The Gary Paytons

Matt Guokas, Sr.’s basketball career ended tragically. After winning the title in 47, an automobile accident in the offseason cost him his right leg. Unable to continue playing professional sports, Guokas Sr. turned to announcing, calling games for the Philadelphia Eagles from the 50s through the mid-80s.
