Drama aside, let’s talk about fashion.

Fri, 05/03/2024 - 20:57

Am I the only one who really does not understand Alex Hall’s fashion choices? I mean at the opening party for the San Diego office she wore such a weird fake leather dress that looked really cheap, as in cheap fabric and bad sewing. As Amanza said she seems to always wear some type of fashion nova design and that is so weird to me, I thought that at this level she would want to wear a bit more well made clothes.

Is this bird native to San Diego?

Fri, 05/03/2024 - 20:48

This little fellow is just chilling at Sea Port Village in San Diego, Ca. Not scared of humans. No others like it around. I’ve never seen a bird like it before. I’m really curious what it is?!

Anybody in the San Diego area with a GMT800 that I can shadow when it comes to maintenance/fixing?

Fri, 05/03/2024 - 20:41

I now drive my dad’s 2004 Yukon, and I plan on keeping this car in the family. Unfortunately, I didn’t grow up working on cars (quite the opposite actually, I’m an office W-2). However, I have plenty of experience working on mountain bikes (bleeding brakes, servicing dampers and air springs, bearing replacements, etc.).

I want to learn everything there is to know about my 4L65E and LQ4. That includes common issues like sunflower bell housing failure, leaking oil pickup tube o-ring, etc.

I am basically looking for a mentor who I can be a helping hand for. If you own a car repair shop, I will work for free on weekends if that means I can be hands on.

24 [M4F] #San Diego - Gentleman in search of a beautiful woman to plan a vacation

Fri, 05/03/2024 - 07:21

Hey, just a chill young man in search of hitting it off with a lovely woman (20-55). I seem to have a ton of PTO and am in desperate need of a vacation. Open to some ideas of destinations but here are a few to start. (US or Canada Train ride with sleeping cart, Canada or US destination, a cruise, golfing destination trip, …) Anyway been in San Diego most of my life. Bit of a workaholic. Love cooking and great cuisine. Love movies and tv shows, and golfing to name a few things. Name a few of your favorites of these and some hobbies and interests to start. Looking forward to hitting it off and planning a stellar trip we both can enjoy. I’m an open book so feel free to ask anything. I’m not always on Reddit so I’ll try to respond as quickly as possible. Anyway let’s chat.

VA Loan - Transferable

Fri, 05/03/2024 - 07:21

Hi, I learned recently that a VA loan is transferable. Meaning if you sell your house, you can transfer the loan to someone, even if they are not a veteran. The advantage to this is the person keeps the same interest rate, and they assume the note with however much debt is still owed.

The person assuming the loan typically needs to find a way to pay the seller the equity in the home. As I understand it, this is done via cash or securing a loan to cover the equity amount (for example, if the note has $300,000 left on it, but the house is worth $400,000, the buyer assumes the loan for $300,000 and pays the seller $100,000 either from their own cash funds, or by securing a different loan for this amount).

The only catch is that your VA loan eligibility is tied to that loan, so you can't get another VA loan while that loan exists. The only way to not have this happen is if the person you transfer to also has VA loan eligibility, they can assume the loan under their eligibility (they don't have to, but you can make it part of the deal).

I am curious if anyone has ever done this? If so, how did it work out for you? I currently own a home in NY and am moving to San Diego. I would love to assume a VA loan on a San Diego house as part of the purchase, so I can have a lower interest rate and thus afford a home. And I am considering selling my home to a fellow veteran at my current location so they can assume my low, and the lower interest rate.

pls get a grip on reality.

Fri, 05/03/2024 - 07:17

Scrolling through this morning & saw a stitch with this video so I searched it, this cannot be real. Cecily needs to touch grass or something bc this is actually insane. Not everything needs to be documented, some things CAN be left private, this should be one of them. This looks ridiculous. I cannot stand her.

Homeless problem

Fri, 05/03/2024 - 06:49

Took my child to the Natural History Museum yesterday, and decided to do a quick stroll around the Prado and fountains after. Weather was perfect, and the park was lovely. It all came to an alarming stop when a transient-looking person was chasing an elderly couple while making erratic noises and movements. While pushing a stroller, he then turned his attention to me and luckily decided we weren't his next target. I'm a 6'2", 220 lbs dude, and maybe that helped. Now I consider myself quite progressive, and try to be empathetic as much as possible, but the homeless problem is getting out of control. If I were homeless, I'd move to San Diego myself, I get it. But disturbing the peace, threatening people and destroying the park by camping and trashing it is not acceptable. How can the city fix this? More police presence? Come up with new antagonistic laws for transient people?

US Open Local Qualifying Roundup -- May 2nd Edition, Part 1

Fri, 05/03/2024 - 06:26

Nine local qualifiers took place yesterday, so this will be a two-parter. Here's Part 1:

La Purisma Golf Course:

A sunny but blustery day in Lompoc, CA saw very high scores across the board on this 7,000-yard layout, but the course was no match for recent Oklahoma State graduate Jackson Lake (a), who recovered from a disappointing T-57 finish at this year's (and maybe the final ever?) Pac-12 Conference Championships to card a four-under 68 for medalist honors. Rising Cal-Berkeley junior Nathan Wang (a) overcame a double-bogey 7 on the first hole to finish at (-1) and comfortably earn his spot at final qualifying, but the real drama unfolded, as it always does in these qualifiers, among those final qualifying spots. Seven players entered the water of sudden death at one-over-par knowing only three would come back out and the sharks of Local Qualifying would take the rest. CSU Fullerton standout Tegan Andrews (a) and Pepperdine Men's Assistant Coach Jason Allred both made it, but the final spot went to none other than La Purisma's own head golf professional, Larry Correa. Everyone loves an underdog story, particularly when the underdog has home field advantage, and we hope good things for Mr. Correa and the other qualifiers as they venture a bit further from home to their chosen Final Qualifying sites.

Broadmoor Country Club:

It was an unfettered birdiefest at Indianapolis's Broadmoor Country Club on Thursday, as former Furman standout and mini-tour journeyman Keller Harper capped off a bogey-free (-9) 63 by playing the last 3 holes in 4-under-par to capture medalist honors. Two strokes back in the second qualifying spot was recently graduated Purdue Boilermaker Nicholas Dentino (a), who also went bogey-free in his quest to play at Pinehurst this June. However, with only five qualifying spots and a 4-way tie for 3rd place, the USGA served up yet another playoff. The survivors were the Korn Ferry Tour's own Dylan Meyer, along with Canadian Braxton Kuntz (a) of Ball State and Hoosier Noah Gillard (a). Unfortunately, one man would not earn a spot in final qualifying out of that playoff and that was Mr. Gillard's freshman teammate Cole Starnes (a), who will take his place on the alternate list, although I'm sure we'll be seeing more of him in the future.

The Grand Golf Club:

We return to sunny Southern California, this time in San Diego, where 90 players played for 5 spots in Final Qualifying. SDSU's own Justin Hastings (a) shared top honors with Korn Ferry Tour member and former DIII star at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Tain Lee, after both players carded inspired (-6) 66's, with Mr. Lee holing his approach from the fairway for an eagle on the Par 4 1st. Former UC Santa Barbara Gaucho Koi Sato, now a professional, calmly staked his claim to solo 3rd with a five-under 65, leaving a three-way playoff for the final two spots. Former Aztec and current professional Otto Vanhatalo and rising Long Beach State senior Steen Zeman (a) claimed the final two spots, with rising UCSD junior Nathan Tseng (a) coming up short.

McCormick Woods Golf Club:

On a cool, calm, and sunny Thursday in Port Orchard, WA, the golf course still maintained its dignity, as scores stayed relatively close to par among those at the top of the leaderboard. Korn Ferry Tour member RJ Manke bookended his round with eagles on the Par-5 2nd and 18th holes to take the top spot at four-under. We potentially had the makings of a 4-for-2 playoff here that would have featured the likes of GOLF magazine journalist Dylan Dethier, but current mid-am and former WSU Wildcat Colten Kleis (a) and teaching professional Sean Ko out of Vancouver, BC, Canada both birdied the Par-5 18th to join 16-year-old and 2023 US Junior Am qualifier Theo Snyder (a) and rising Seattle University senior Liam Gill (a) in a 4-way tie for 2nd place and a spot in Final Qualifying. Mr. Dethier was relegated to alternate status as a result, but I'm sure he'll find another way to make in to this year's Open.

Columbia Country Club (Ridgewood/Tall Pines Course):

Many of you may remember this as the golf course that Wesley Bryan vlogged his local qualifier at last year. This year, it was mini-tour journeyman and former JMU Duke Ryan Cole who took medalist honors with a blemish-free 66, save for a bogey at the watery Par-3 8th. Fellow mini-tour professional and former Wake Forest star Parker Gillam took the second spot with a five-under-par 67. This qualifier was on track for what would have been a truly nerve-wracking 6-for-1 playoff, but the 150th-ranked amateur in the world, Dane Jonathan Nielsen (a) played spoiler with a tenacious birdie at the last to slip him into a three-way tie for third alongside PGA Latinoamerica and Canada veteran Blair Bursey and teaching professional Shane Rogan of nearby Cobblestone Park at (-4) 68. These five will be advancing to Final Qualifying on June 3rd.

Anyone know any good off road downhill Onewheel friendly trails in south San Diego, better yet, in Tijuana?

Fri, 05/03/2024 - 06:17

I’m American but live in tj, I have a pint X I’m about 1500miles in, tj is great, the streets, potholes, everything, concrete suddenly gives way to dirt, tons of steep hills, Its honestly one of the best possible urban environments for the 1 wheel I could think of! And I live on a mountain, but with some 100ft drops, kinda I was thinking a surf leash but don’t wanna dislocate my leg if the thing goes over. Either way that dream is dead for now, 2 weeks ago we have 1yr worth of rain in a couple hours, that’s like the 5-6th time in the last 6 months (damn government weather modification!) anyway the hills are literally neck deep in weeds now, there is no chance until they do a controlled burn, that’s usually at the end of summer, maybe they’ll o it sooner, but we’ll see. Anyway I’m dying to try something new, currently my car is going thru some upgrade to be even more off-roady, and it’s impossible for me to get the 1wheel on my motorcycle safely, and the backpack is painful to wear long distances, so maybe you know a place near the trolly, and maybe with a charging port and we can get lunch while I top up, as my house to the sd trolly is approx 30% of my battery. Anyway hot be up, I’m open for almost anything new!
