It is so easy to keep moving But also easier to remain in the past

Just briefly remembering, even just seconds The weight that was a daily battle.

I feel pity for how I once felt And simultaneously anger for the years lost

I choose not to think about before. But I also choose not to acknowledge the growth.

The weight of nothing, is baffling, but ultimately deathly paralyzing

How Parenting Counselling Will Help in Boosting Your Child's Academic Results

Ultimate Reddit - Thu, 04/25/2024 - 22:10

A child's academic journey is a complex path paved with both triumphs and challenges. While teachers play a crucial role in shaping young minds, a significant portion of a child's early educational foundation is built within the walls of their own home. Parents are, ultimately, a child's first teachers.

Parents play a crucial role in their children's development, especially during the early stages of their education. In grades 6th and 7th, children spend significant time at home, where parents act as their primary educators alongside teachers. Parents assist with homework and provide guidance and support, helping children understand and correct their mistakes. However, in recent times, the level of parental involvement in children's education has declined. Many parents need help to dedicate time to assist their children with homework, which can negatively impact their academic performance. This lack of parental support may hinder children's progress and overall development. Here's where Parental Counselling and Guidance can be immensely beneficial. Counsellors can equip parents with the tools and strategies to effectively support their child's learning journey.

  7. Empowering Parents, Empowering Children

  8. Conclusion

1 . Start Early? Laying the Foundation for Success

You're absolutely right – a child's educational foundation is laid remarkably early. Even before formal schooling begins, parents are a child's first and most influential teachers. From fostering a love of learning through bedtime stories and imaginative play to cultivating good study habits. A child's academic journey is a complex path paved with both triumphs and challenges. While teachers play a crucial role in shaping young minds, a significant portion of a child's early educational foundation is built within the walls of their own home. Parents, after all, are the first educators a child encounters.

Imagine your child as a budding plant. Teachers provide sunlight and water in the form of classroom instruction. However, nurturing and fertile soil – a supportive and stimulating home environment – is essential for the plant to thrive.

Parenting Counselling Services can be particularly beneficial during this crucial period. Counsellors can guide parents in creating a stimulating and supportive learning environment at home. It can be as simple as incorporating educational elements into everyday routines – counting groceries at the store, reading recipes together, or engaging in pretend play that involves problem-solving and critical thinking.

2. Identifying and Addressing Challenges

As children progress through school, they inevitably encounter academic hurdles. These challenges could be subject-specific difficulties, trouble with organisation and time management, or issues related to focus and concentration.

Parental Counselling and Guidance empower parents to identify these roadblocks early on. Through open communication and observation, parents can discuss their child's academic experiences with the counsellor. The counsellor can then provide valuable insights into potential underlying causes.

For example, a child struggling in maths might have undiagnosed dyscalculia, a learning disability that affects maths skills. Similarly, a child with attention difficulties might benefit from strategies to improve focus and organisation. Parental Counselling and Guidance don't diagnose learning disabilities, that's the role of a qualified professional. However, counsellors can equip parents with the knowledge and resources to seek further evaluation if needed.

3. Create a Team: How Working Together Makes a Difference

A child's academic success is a collaborative effort. Parental Counselling and Guidance fosters strong communication and collaboration between parents, teachers, and counsellors. This unified approach ensures everyone involved is on the same page, working towards shared goals for the child's academic advancement.

Through counselling sessions, parents gain valuable insights into their child's strengths, weaknesses, and learning styles. This information can then be shared with teachers, allowing them to tailor their teaching methods to better cater to the child's individual needs. Counsellors also facilitate communication between parents and teachers, addressing any concerns and ensuring a smooth flow of information regarding the child's progress.

4. Beyond Grades: Cultivating a Growth Mindset

Academic success goes beyond just good grades. Parenting counselling helps parents foster a "growth mindset" in their children. This is the belief that intelligence is not fixed, but can be developed through effort and perseverance. When children believe in their ability to learn and grow, they are more likely to embrace challenges, view mistakes as opportunities for learning, and persevere when faced with academic setbacks.

Through counselling, parents gain a deeper understanding of their child's emotional state, learning styles, and any underlying issues that might be hindering their academic progress. Counsellors can equip parents with strategies to praise their child's effort and progress rather than just focusing on the result. They can also guide parents on how to help children develop healthy coping mechanisms to manage frustration and anxiety related to academic challenges.

5. Parenting Counselling Services

Parenting Counselling Services can involve individual sessions for parents or joint sessions with the child, depending on specific needs. The counsellor may employ various techniques, including:

a. Open-ended questioning: Encourages parents to reflect on their parenting styles and identify areas for improvement.

b. Role-playing: Allows parents to practise communication and conflict resolution skills in a safe environment.

c. Cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT): Teaches parents techniques to manage their stress and anxiety, which can inadvertently impact their child's learning environment.

6. Investing in the Future

Parental counselling and Guidance is an investment in your child's future. It empowers parents to become active partners in their child's academic journey, fostering a supportive and stimulating environment that fuels a love of learning and a thirst for knowledge. Remember, a strong foundation laid in the early years paves the way for a lifetime of academic success and personal growth.

7. Empowering Parents, Empowering Children

Parenting counselling is not a one-size-fits-all solution. Counsellors work with parents to understand their concerns, their child's specific needs, and the family dynamics. This personalised approach ensures the strategies adopted are not only effective but also sustainable within the family context. It's a personalised journey that equips parents with the tools and confidence they need to navigate the complexities of supporting their child's academic progress.

Here's a breakdown of some key benefits of parenting counselling:

a. Improved Communication: Counsellors create a safe space for parents to openly discuss their concerns and challenges.

b. Enhanced Understanding: Counsellors provide valuable insights into child development, learning styles, and potential underlying causes of academic difficulties.

c. Effective Strategies: Counsellors equip parents with practical tools and strategies to support their child's learning at home and collaborate effectively with teachers.

d. Building Confidence: Counselling empowers parents to trust their intuition and become their child's strongest advocate in their academic journey.

The decision to seek parenting counselling is a testament to a parent's commitment to their child's well-being and educational success. Investing in this support system can yield long-lasting benefits, not just in terms of academic achievement, but also in fostering a love of learning and a growth mindset that will serve

8. Conclusion

Struggling to support your child's academic success? Parenting counselling unlocks tools to boost grades, confidence & communication. Explore in-person & online counselling options.

In the dynamic landscape of education, parenting counselling emerges as a guiding light, illuminating the path to academic excellence for children. It's not merely a service but a personalised journey, a collaboration between parents, educators, and counsellors, aimed at overcoming challenges and unlocking each child's unique potential.

Picture this: a canvas of possibilities, where every stroke of guidance and support shapes a child's educational masterpiece. Parenting counselling lays the groundwork early on, nurturing a fertile soil where seeds of curiosity and resilience take root and flourish into lifelong learning.

Investing in parenting counselling isn't just about securing better grades; it's an investment in a future where children are equipped with the skills and mindset to navigate life's complexities with grace and determination. It's about fostering a generation of thinkers, innovators, and changemakers ready to leave their mark on the world.

In closing, parenting counselling isn't just a service—it's a beacon of empowerment, guiding families towards a brighter, more fulfilling educational journey. As we embrace its transformative power, we lay the foundation for a future where every child has the opportunity to shine and soar to new heights of success.

Devin Booker never existed in the original timeline

Ultimate Reddit - Thu, 04/25/2024 - 19:10

And "Melvin Booker" was a fake person created by the media to cover up the fact that Luka Doncic is his true father.

In the original timeline, on May 15th, 2022, Luka Doncic put up a 41-point performance in a narrow Game 7 loss to the Phoenix Suns led by Chris Paul, Kelly Oubre Jr., Ricky Rubio, Frank Kaminsky, and Jevon Carter. Subsequently, after multiple first- and second-round exits, he never won a ring in his career and the social media flak got him so depressed that he decided to pursue a career as a physicist.

In 2027, Luka Doncic started his Bachelor's Degree in physics back in Slovenia, and nearly a decade later, he was awarded a doctorate in physics under the supervision of particle physicist Brian Cox. However an accident at the Large Hadron Collider, during one research experiment, caused a distortion in the spacetime fabric, sending him back to the year 1995.

In 1995, the older incarnation of Luka learned to extract a copy of his own DNA to have children. Subsequently, he had four children: Cam Johnson (born March 3, 1996), Mikal Bridges (born August 30, 1996), Devin Booker (born October 30, 1996), and Deandre Ayton (born July 23, 1998).

In the new, altered timeline of 2022, the older Luka disguised himself as an elderly man (in order to prevent a time paradox), somehow finding the social media accounts of his younger self. He told his younger self to step up in that 2022 series, with the Suns now led by his sons Devin Booker, Deandre Ayton, Mikal Bridges and Cameron Johnson in contrast to the original timeline. In Game 7 of that series, the younger Luka scored 35 points in three quarters, humiliating Phoenix as the fans and media were ultimately convinced that Luka Doncic is Devin Booker's father. Luka is currently in a favorable position to win an NBA title unlike the original timeline.

Thinking of my friend but not sure how to reach out. I just want to make this post hoping she’d see.

Ultimate Reddit - Thu, 04/25/2024 - 19:09
Some years ago, I was told that the mother of a friend of mine(12F) was diagnosed with cancer. I didn’t know how to react, and neither did I know how to comfort her. I knew that cancer was a deadly disease, but I had no idea about what going through treatments was like, and what it really meant. Looking back I probably made some insensitive comments to her. Here I was, in the hospital, now older with children of my own, never in a million years would I have thought that I would be in this position, looking after my son who was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumour. Navigating in this world felt surreal. Nothing could’ve prepared me for the emotional rollercoaster that we were going through. Even still, people constantly called me a word that I have begun to question the meaning, “strong.” I wasn’t strong at all, I felt like I was drifting down a river, just letting the course of this situation carry me through. There were times when I would hit a boulder, there were times when I questioned why I was floating down this river, and there were times when I felt like I was drowning. Nothing was there to tether me, except for my saint of a husband, who very evidently was drifting along with me. I hated when people called me “strong.” What did it mean anyways? I surely was not holding it emotionally, and as scared as I was, it was my cancer bedridden son who often comforts me. I wasn’t doing anything physically, always cowering between running away, and staying just because of my pride. My husband never left his side as frequently as I needed to and that was what had damaged my pride. I got impatient and frustrated when situations don’t turn well when they need to, and it feels like he would never be well enough to recover. None of these attributes make up the very definition of a “strong” person. As a thirty-three year old woman, going through the violent ebbs and flows of emotions, I cannot imagine what that friend of mine could have possibly gone through at a mere age of twelve. Her father had divorced her mom, and she had a neuro-divergent sister. When her mother was diagnosed, she had nobody to rely on, maybe except for a grandmother who was also later diagnosed with a brain tumour. I could bet that she has heard all too often how “strong” she was, only to hate that word more than anyone else. The word had lost all meaning to her just like me, trying to redefine the word but still unable to do so. Thinking now, once the meaning has been lost, what kind of strength can I hold on to if the definition I’ve known all my life is no longer valid? This word that was forced down her throat so many times must’ve festered like a rash inside her. To her, it was an excuse for adults to shove the responsibility of taking care of her sister in the future. It was an excuse for the adults to be able to take care of her emotions passively. They must’ve felt like they were such good people to have helped her. It was ultimately a silent sentencing that she had to bear: she will need to suffer alone for the rest of her life. The pitying eyes that people would give her at school, yet saying how strong she was all felt like lies. If they really thought of her as strong, then why the pitying eyes? I know that I am in no position to comfort her, I don’t even know if she needs it now, or if it matters anymore since so much time has passed, but I just could not even begin to fathom how different my situation could’ve been if I did not have the support of my husband, let alone having to face such trauma with each pillar of support crumbling beneath my feet. I just want her to know that I get it now, and that I am so sorry for being such an ignorant thorn on the side for her, also giving her the “pity eyes” that so many people must have given. I pray that she could find someone who could tether her and finally rest after drifting down this river of misery for so long. submitted by /u/lyichenj to r/TrueOffMyChest
